    New Ducati DesertX

If I had the garage space and $$ I'd get this and keep the hyper and it'd be like having both sides of a Multistrada but with each bike more refined for a specific purpose. In no way would this thing ever replace my Hyper, it'll never be the nimble canyon carver the hyper is, but it'd be a great...

What's everyone using for removing the large nut holding the rear wheel on?

Aaaaand that reminds me, the socket I have is from Speedymoto, funny what will trigger ones memory. I've only used it on the sprocket side so far, but it worked great.

What's everyone using for removing the large nut holding the rear wheel on?

I have something similar to the one pictured, it's double sided so it fits both the wheel side and the sprocket side. Works well. I can grab the brand next time I at at my garage.

    Remapping a Hyper 939

That's correct, O2 sensors off, flapper open presumably a little richer fueling and the dash says Hypermotard Racing when you boot it up. Seat of my pants dyno says it's got more top end power, down lower in the RPM range power seems similar to before, but smoother.

    Remapping a Hyper 939

I've had an 821 and a 939, the 821 never seemed problematic to me aside from not liking to do anything below 3k. The 939 on the other hand was frustrating to ride in any state other than hard on the throttle. Cruising around town and in traffic sucked. I simple tune from the T800 seems to have...

Anyone else still on their stock battery? I have a '14 821 and it's still perfect.

Stock battery on my 2018 was doing fine, but I put it into my 2015 base when I sold it, it was an excuse to upgrade to lithium. Only had that battery for a year now but no issues so far but I generally ride the bike no less than twice a month, and usually more frequently so there's no issue...

    Aprilia Coils ?

Mine is a 2018. And by no issues I mean none of the issues with frying the dash or ECU. Bike did suffer from some stumbling and surging under maintenance throttle, more noticeable around 3 - 5k. I have since given it a tune with the T800 based on the Star.Ace performance airbox cover. That along...

    Aprilia Coils ?

25k on my 939 with no issues, I suspect the electrical problems were sorted out.

    Consistently Consuming MAP sensors

This makes me think of something else. On an older hyper I had a problem where the dash would do the christmas tree thing and then drop the bike into limp mode which prevented any real acceleration until restarting. It appeared random but got more frequent over time. Finally a mechanic (not the...

    Swing Arm Axle

That's a lot of dirt! I had the locknet on the sprocket side loosen up during a ride which meant I put somewhere between 400 - 600 miles on it with a little slop in the rear hub. Took it to a shop to have things checked out so it will get looked over and lubed up while it's there.

    Consistently Consuming MAP sensors

I've ridden with bad MAP sensors (or at least, the dealer said they were bad and replaced under warranty) bike would drop into limp mode but then run fine after being restarted, usually for the rest of the day, pulling hard, revving all the way like nothing was up. Only way to tell was that the...

    Consistently Consuming MAP sensors

Sounds slightly different than my experience, once I restart the bike it runs as normal all the way to redline. The MAP sensor error usually pops once per ride, generally at highway speeds when I'm just droning along. Still under extended warranty so I'll just let the dealer replace sensors for...

    CEL light randomly glowing

When you have the CEL on, if you pull the clutch and roll off the throttle do the RPMs stay around 3-4k or surge around that mark? If so, the bike is in limp mode which means the ECU got bad readings from a sensor and cut power for safety reasons. The intermittent thing is weird, CEL usually...

    Lithium Battery on Hyperstrada

I notice the rear gets a little lighter when I load it up for a trip and I am an absolute sail in the wind (my gas mileage concurs), front stays nice and planted for the most part. I've had it come up when cresting a hill on the gas a few times which is either fun or unnerving depending on what...

    Adventures in Hypermotard Tuning...

I don't think you'll get anything from the T800 you haven't already gotten from the map applied with that exhaust, I'd leave it alone.

    Lithium Battery on Hyperstrada

My bike has never been a problem in this regard. 90+ on the highway and it's rock solid. Grooved pavement, potholes, whatever it just keeps rolling. Only bike I've ever had a problem with being light in the front was due to the rear shock being too soft which caused too much squat. I do sit up...

High beams on when running (switch does nothing)

Only time this happened to me was when I had a bad LED bulb, not sure if that helps at all.

    Consistently Consuming MAP sensors

I'd ignore it entirely if it weren't for the annoyance of the bike dropping into limp mode at least once per ride, whenever it feels like it. I've gotten to the point I just kill switch it to clear the limp condition from the ECU, fire it up and ride off. The only time it was more than an...

    Consistently Consuming MAP sensors

Well, after a relative period of calm the bike is at it again. I need to get the code scanned bu the behavior was the same as before so I'm relatively sure it's the MAP sensor. I'm starting to wonder if the sprinter filter isn't adequate for touring where the bike sees more dust / dirt / bugs...

    Performance upgrades for Hyperstrada 821

Yep I've done the airbox lid with sprinter filter from Star.ace and the matching upmap from Termi via the T800. It was a subtle change but the bike certainly runs better overall and does seem to have a little more power overall.
