    Ignition Coil issues

I’m very curious to find out if the problem with my bike is related to this coil issue. Two key points Mentioned by the mechanic was the coils were being replaced and every scrap of electronics in the bike was fried. I’m curious as to the physics of this particular failure. Ignition coils make...

Thanks! I'm not certain. The guy at the shop mentioned replacing the ignition coils but wasn't clear about the root cause of the failure. I'm gonna ask him for specifics when the bike is ready to go. He said he was very surprised at the level of support Ducati was giving for a bike that...

"Error" and all dash lights flashing, Fan Turns on, No Start...

Thank you! It's a huge relief. After talking to the shop last week I got off the phone and started debating parting the bike out because his estimate of the parts cost alone was almost what the bike is worth. It's also a big relief that the shop is actually working the problem. The guy...

At long last it’s been decided that the complete destruction of my bikes electronics was caused by a recall part failure. The shop contacted me to let me know that Ducati will be picking up the bill for the new ECU, dashboard, ignition coils etc. The guy at the shop was very professional and...

    Ride mode clarification....

The TC is helpful where the ground cover is loose but alot of small babyhead rocks. On this sort of terrain wheel spin is very undesirable and the TC does keep it under control admirably in conjunction with careful throttle control. It has its place off-roading.

    Ride mode clarification....

Sorry about overriding your thread with my troubles. To get back on track again, what you planned here is a good start. In my experiments with making an off-road mode I modified Touring mode by first turning everything down or off. Then while riding off-road I nudged each setting up and down...

I was just reading through the google reviews and it looks like my experience isn't anything new. The service dept. gets most of the negatives. Here's a person also recommending patience.

    Ride mode clarification....

I'm not sure that this place is an authorized Ducati dealership. I know it's the place that the mechanics from the two Ducati dealers that closed down went when they had to find another job. So there's good Ducati trained guys there. I might not have gotten one of them to start with. The last...

    Ride mode clarification....

She's still at the shop. 3 weeks now. When i got her there the service manager tried telling me I had no appointment. I made an appointment two weeks prior. I told him that and he called his boss and they both started acting like I was lying about making an appointment. I don't appreciate being...

    Ride mode clarification....

The throttle response is the most noticeable thing between the different engine modes. But to sum up the other settings the higher the TC the jerkier the throttle. The ABS seems inversely proportional. There's a few sweet spots where the interactions between the various settings don't work...

    Indian FTR 1200

In the past couple days new riding reviews for the FTR1200 have started popping up and I've been paying attention to them. It's got me chuckling so far. Listening to and reading the reviewers I'm really starting to get the impression that Indian has succeeded in making a Hyperstrada. By this I...

Don't forget about the big fat washer for the rear bolt when putting it back together. It's really fun getting it to stay put.

    Hyperstrada Review

When I was commuting to work on my HS I hated it until I got the clutch upgrade installed. After that getting stuck in stop and crawl traffic got much easier. At that point I realized that she's really a nearly perfect and practical commuting bike for longer commutes. I think if I had sprung for...

I still have to wonder how many of the recalls were recorded as done but not actually done. The last shop I went too made me suspicious of this. I'm counting the days until I ride my HS again. As much as I enjoy the Suzuki Savage its suspension leaves alot to be desired riding it every day...
