    The Single Life - Thumpers

Since my HS broke down in October I’ve had to press my little LS650 into service as my main means of transportation. Which means that for the last 3700 miles I have literally beaten the snot out of this bike all the while having no money to give it proper maintenance. And after all of the...

"Error" and all dash lights flashing, Fan Turns on, No Start...

Thanks! I’ll be sure to do that. I may put a slipon muffler on her too. And later this year I think I wanna tackle the front fork diving problem as well.

"Error" and all dash lights flashing, Fan Turns on, No Start...

I'm finally back to work again so I finally have money to get my dashboard replaced. I have an appointment for May 18th to drop my HS off for service. I can't wait to get the girl back on the road again! Then once she's back I need to take the Suzuki off the road to replace the fork seals...

    Bridgestone AX41 Adventurecross Any Good?

Looks like a worthwhile alternative to the TKC80. I wonder if it’s longer lasting though. Anyone tried them on the HS yet? Looks there’s no front tire size to fit the HS....

That CCM is pretty! Very nice bike indeed. And that's good horsepower from a single too.

    Pennsylvania Coal Country ADV Ride

I just came across a good video of guys riding around the same area I was in. In a few scenes they cross over the very same mining roads I was riding on. Around 19 mins in they ride down one of the same ones I was on before darting off into the trees and rocks again. Famous Reading Outdoors FRO...

Savage/S40/LS650 Reviews For anyone unfamiliar with the LS650 here's some reviews and info I find useful. This fella bought the bike for his sister, rode it, then decided to keep it for himself :D His assessment of the bikes power is accurate for a stock motor. I agree with him it's under...

    The Single Life - Thumpers

Marty's the man! I bet you did the whole trip on a single tank of gas too :D I finally made up my mind for a trail bike. I'm going to get a KLX250S https://www.kawasaki.com/Products/2019-KLX250 From doing my homework and talking to people in the areas I want to ride trails in this bike has an...

    The Single Life - Thumpers

Dang, this bike means business! Traction control, with Street and Offroad modes, is standard. The six-speed gearbox has a quickshifter, as well as a hydraulically actuated slipper clutch. The new chassis keeps the seat height below 36 inches. Cornering ABS comes to the 2019 KTM 690 Enduro R...

    The Single Life - Thumpers

Now that's a heck of alot of miles - Wow! The Dr650 is a sweet ride. I read somewhere that back in the 90's the LS650 and the DR650 shared the same engine. Maybe that change in 96 you mention? I've come close to snatching up used DR650's a couple times already. Very tempting....

    The Single Life - Thumpers

My motorcycle life began at age 10 with a 1981 Honda XR80. From then on up to my mid 20's I continuously owned and rode to death a wide array of off-road and dual sport single cylinder bikes. By now I'm sure everyone here knows I really enjoy riding my LS650 Thumper. Despite the fact it is a...

    DTC "-" = fun

My only customized setting is the touring preset. I now know it as Off-Road in my head. DTC off, ABS 1, Engine Low For most of my dirt riding this works fine for me. On occasion I turn off ABS and on more slippery, hilly conditions I'll bump up TC. I've tried Engine High with this and found it...

    New MV Tourismo

I like this bikes potential. Has alot of great features. Price is high considering the HP on tap though. Seems there should be more engine for the money.

    Indian FTR 1200

The S model has adjustable front and rear suspension at a higher price point. Possibly too pricey, though it also includes an electronics upgrade with TC + riding modes and a touchscreen dashboard with mobile device integration (all standard on many bikes these days). I hadn't even noticed the...

    Indian FTR 1200

Personally, I'm kinda excited by this machine. To my eye it looks pretty versatile. I can see this becoming a baseline platform capable of being offered in a variety of different styles - Sport Touring, ADV, Scrambler etc. Many possibilities.... 2019 Indian FTR 1200 Motorcycle | Indian Motorcycle

    Moto Guzzi V85 Pre-Order?

There are road reviews of this bike now. I found this one informative. https://youtu.be/ldK-nxb5_78 I have to admit I actually like the look of the bike. Gives me nostalgia for the 80's.

2019 Michaux Dual Sport Adv Ride on HS

Take it from me, the HS is not a trail bike. I gave up taking her down trails and stick to dirt roads now. I don't know what sort of terrain that event will take you down so you may want to find out how much trails and mud are involved. The HS doesn't do well in mud either. That said, the TKC80...
