Best on/off road option for Hyperstrada

Thanks for the link. Nice to hear even more good reports about it too. My other bike is the Suzuki Savage 650 so I've come to appreciate the reliability of the brand. And the nice easy clutches too. I'm looking forward to the DR for future adventure excursions.

Best on/off road option for Hyperstrada

Are you talking a smaller countershaft sprocket? If so I don't think I want to go there just yet. If my plans work out financially I'll be picking up a DR650 this Spring for trail riding. Once that happens I'm going to put street tires back on the Hyperstrada and keep her on the pavement going...

Best on/off road option for Hyperstrada

I ride my HS off road too and like appliance821 says the clutch really sucks there. Especially while negotiating rough/loose surfaces at low speeds - trying to feather the clutch is very hit or miss. I can also attest the HS does not do well in mud even with TCK80s which is what I run. I've had...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

So after another week of commuting with this gear on progressively colder crappier weather I am still pretty happy with my choices. The boots are breaking in nicely and are fairly comfortable now. I thought that would take longer. I'm still getting used to the bulkiness of the toe box. It makes...

    2015 Clutch Kits Now Available

Certifyably foaming at the mouth my friend. I blame it on dealing with the sheer insanity of commuting on roads with cagers from 4 different states (PA, DE, NJ and MD). Then again it's likely just from dealing with the NJ ones alone :o

    2015 Clutch Kits Now Available

No kidding. I tried to pull off some nice controlled power slides and things got interesting to the point I eventually gave up on it. I can pull them off but it's so unpredictable with trying to feather that clutch just right while on bumpy uneven surfaces. Couple times when reaching a dead-end...

    2015 Clutch Kits Now Available

Just placed an order for the kit. It's been encouraging reading the feedback about it here. With all my riding in heavy traffic and off-road it'll be very welcome to not have such a bitchy clutch to aggravate me so much.

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

I really like the gloves I got except the fact the liners won't fit. I'm keeping the gloves. Maybe I'll just get the cheapest pair I can get in a larger size to use with the liners. So, day two of my weekly commute with new gear and I'm still pretty comfy despite the 33 degrees with high winds...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

I tried my new gear out today. I rode for 2 hours in 35 degrees with gusty wind. Both highway and local streets. On the highway I rode up to 90mph where I could for a spell. That balaclava was crap. I would have been better off with my $4.99 cheapo fleece head mask I got on Amazon. The...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

Hey Hype I'll have too look into that ProCycle stator. If there's one to be had then I'd definitely like one. Would love to put some driving lights on the little bruiser too if I could. I thought a big problem with the savage is the regulator. If you remove load from it then the voltage goes...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

I have all the gear in hand. The Alpinestars gloves are very impressive in their construction and comfort but unfortunately do not fit over the heated liners. The boots are surprisingly comfortable too. Not the most heavily constructed I've seen but $180 for Goretex is damn good deal...

    Where'd my rear brake go?

That's a good point about the ABS. The HS is the 1st vehicle I've owned that had it. I imagine any number of things can go wrong with it. Maybe I should disable it and see if my brake starts working again....

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

I have a big windscreen on my HS plus the OEM hand guards and I miss those things very much when I ride the little Suzuki which has neither. Especially when it is damp or raining and my gloves start soaking in the dampness. When I feel like roughing it I can always go ride that thing. For now my...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

I just got back from riding about as far as you did. It was in the 50's today so I figured I'd go enjoy the backroads. Found some new ones that were fun too. Also scoped out another spot to ride off-road that isn't gated or roped off but I wasn't dressed for that today. But yeah I figure...

    Where'd my rear brake go?

So I just need to bleed the brake? I don't understand a brake ceasing to work because the bike has sat for a few weeks. How did they f**k up so badly to make this possible? It's 2017 and we've had hydraulic disc brakes on motorcycles since 1969 and Ducati managed to screw this up? How is that...

    Tires

I went with the TKC 80 yet again. Good thing too. Some maniac forced me off the road on a two lane off-ramp this morning. I guess they didn't see me or just didn't look when they changed from the inside lane to the outside where I was. The shoulder was half-paved the rest was dirt and I was...

    Where'd my rear brake go?

So today it dawned on me that the rear brake is no longer doing anything. The pedal goes down really far now too. I always put the brakes on together and for that reason didn't really notice anything wrong with the back. I was stopped on a downhill and tried using the rear brake by itself and to...

    Human Popsicle Season Gear Advice?

Riding home tonight it dropped to 36 degrees. On the parts where I wasn't crawling in traffic I was cruising at 80+ mph. My knees got it the worst. Then my hands and then my feet. The rest of me was fine. I had two pairs of socks inside my Harley brand boots that are totally falling apart after...
