My Michelin Pilot Road 4's have almost no detectable wear after 7000 km usage. I wouldn't however recommend them if you're planning to do any track days (I've seen what a track will do to them on a sport bike), but for normal street usage they're great.

I bet it has something to do with the immobilizer system on the bike. The Key, ECU and dash all need to be programmed to recognize each other. I would say your best bet would be to visit a dealer so you can use their special Ducati computers.

Welcome and nice bike. If you want to keep those panniers from turning purple, I'd suggest riding without them on the bike as much as possible.

I swap out the oil at 1/2 cycle (7,000 km), and filter, oil, magplug and screen inspections at full cycle (14,000 km). I feel that 7,000 km on used oil is enough time in service, however I don't see the need to change the filter as often as indicated by the screen and magplug inspections.

I'd have to agree with gatdammit, it looks like there's a support frame similar to the Monster's pannier set under those bags. However without seeing the instructions, or without seeing them in person, everyone can wonder..
