Did you get the Akra Catted Link pipe or Non-Catted? If you got the Non-Catted, then prepare yourself for aftermarket tuning. If you got the Catted one, then your factory tuning should be sufficient.

Yeah the low fuel light comes on ridiculously quick in these bikes. I find mine comes on right around the 1/2 tank mark.

Just so you know, if you ride the rear brake in the slow stuff the bike begins to behave much better.

Make sure your clutch cable has the proper amount of free play. Usually when mine starts doing that, my clutch is slightly out of adjustment (usually 1-3 notches).

Remember to drag that rear brake during the slow speed stuff. But, if you want to get the most out of that bike, look at taking an advanced riding course. They're worth their weight in gold learning how to make that bike do some amazing stuff.

Congrats.. and you're right, that is one HELL of a leap from a 250cc to a 939cc. There's about 100 hp and 50 ft/lbs torque difference the two.. When I was learning (and still am) it took me almost 15 years of riding before I was even tempted to move up to the 750-1000cc class bikes. Watch...

Once I got the rocker covers off I took a look at the desmo system first hand, and I'll tell ya.. it's really not that complicated. Sure, if you have to do a service or a shim adjustment it might be a PITA to change the closing shims but, it's really no more difficult than adjusting the valves...

Will do, I'm tensioning it acoustically. I found I was getting very accurate results using the "Fine Tuner" app which is a guitar tuning software on my iPhone. I verified the app was reading the correct Hz when I played a 110 Hz tone on my computer and low and behold I was getting a +/- 5%...

While prepping the bike for the 5 year timing belt change, I decided to install a set of SP's Magnesium rocker covers. They provide a slight weight saving vs the aluminum HS/HM part. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle the actual belt change, which so far is very easy to do.

Makes sense that the TCU came by email.. that one causes stalling which can greatly effect your health if the bike decides to shut off mid corner.. Other one only makes it so you can't start the bike (which means you should be already stopped).
