Quirk-
False neutral between 5th and 6th gear šŸ˜¬. Stomp it hard when shifting

RPM display only shows when the bike is not moving. So weird. Not talking about the bar rev counter at the top.. Under settings menu, you can show RPM in the digital display. Presumably to set idle speed?

Rode 220 miles yesterday. Wasn't too bad on the body. Seat is a little hard but still not too uncomfortable as compared to my previous Husqvarna SM610. Have over 500 miles total. My impressions
1) Throttle response is smooth above 2000 rpm. Never had a Ducati that was this linear. My V2 on the other hand has an annoying dip around 5500 rpm.
2) Electronic intervention of the DTC is sublime. Hard to even know it is kicking in. You have to look at the yellow light to see when it comes on. Keep the throttle pinned and let it do the rest :)
3) After the suspension was set to "Road Sport", the bike handles really well. Holds a line perfectly
4) It is quite impressive how deep you can trail brake. Well pas the apex on either brake or both brakes doesn't seem to bother the bike's stability
5) Due to break-in period restriction, I haven't taken it past 75 mph but it felt composed. Got caught in some strong side winds and the bike was a bit wobbly. Nothing much can be done about those scenarios.
6) Standard mode plastics are cheap dirt bike quality. Dull finish and pretty sure will scratch up easily. I applied some 3M PPF and hopefully that keeps it nice for a while.
7) Coincidentally, a 2023 KTM SMC690 happened to come by when I was taking a break. The owner and I got to sit on each other's bike. It was almost identical feeling sitting on the KTM except for the handle bar. Ducati's handle bar was a bit wide and had a different sweep angle. Seat height, width, seating position was definitely the same. I'm sure Ducati did some bench mark comparision/copying when developing the 698
8) Been consistently getting around 42 mpg. Ran upto 100 miles and the low fuel light didn't turn on. Wonder how this will change once the break in period is done and I can rev it past 6000 rpms. This could be a really practical bike if I can get 125 miles until it runs dry.
9) Definitely could use the Quick shifter. I have one on order but ETA is a month from now.

Manual says bluetooth is an option. I don't see it on my bike. Is this available in Europe or Canada?

In case you are wondering about cross compatibility of front axle sliders with other Ducatis, I found that the Puig PHB19 Hypermotard 13-18 Hyperstrada / Monstor 1200 14-19 / Multistrada15-19 Front axle sliders fits the 698 perfectly. I have no association with this brand or product. Found mine on Amazon for approx $60 + tax

For the rear spool, I used a shogun 8mm 1.25 pitch sliders. Makes it easy to use a rear swing arm stand for rear wheel cleaning and chain maintenance.

When reinstalling the seat, be cautious to not cross thread the bolts. For proper alignment, what I found works best (in my case) was to place the seat, Do NOT push the pins in the front and back, install the 2 bolts on either sides lightly, and then push the pins in and then hand tighten the bolts.

Anyone know the rear axle bolt torque specs? Changing rear tire today.

First bike I've owned that has a 30mm Nut on both sides of the rear axle. šŸ¤”

I think it's ridiculous to have the axle with 2 nuts. Makes it difficult to change or get safety pins lined up. 1st bike I've had like this. Just stupid.

Can you swap it to reverse shift with stock linkage? Looks like we need to wait for aftermarket rear sets for GP shift option.

Does anyone know if there are compatible rear sprockets? Need to go up a tooth or two for the track.

I like the flat sport bars I added, but have been thinking of switching to clip ons. Anyone know what diameter the fork legs are?

I bought a keyless hypermotard gas cap. Had to grind down a significant amount of the cap diameter and the round portion that is inserted into the tank to lock it. Super hassle.

With the new airlid the Mono is roaring out of the airbox like a wild animal. Have the slip on Termiā€™sā€¦little bit more dull and little bit louder. Perfect for me.

Ducati makes a performance airbox lid for the mono I will get a part number later but it comes with the Termi full race pipe

I bought a spare Airbox lid for $20 and cut the top portion off with a dremel tool. Works great. I can hear the induction roar form the seat of my pants.. literally..

Added light weight mesh on the top to protect anything dropping and damaging the air filter element. Pic taken before I tidied up the wires / cables.

Ducati Part# 24717531B - COVER, AIR FILTER CASE

Bought mine from Ducati of Omaha.

I threw on a Roadlok because I often forget my disk locks. Seems like a good system. A little pricey and a slightly fugly, but I know it will save me from trashing the caliper (or mount) when I inevitably try to drive away with a loose lock on the disk. Just wish they used Abloy locks.

For installation, the short (80mm) bolts would not work, so I ended up using the long (90mm) bolts with the 5mm shim on top and whatever standoff spacer was needed to achieve 15-17 mm threading depth. 34 ft-lbs / 46 nm torque on the bolts, and some high strength removable loctite. Hoping to find a lower profile combo of standoffs and bolts.
