Changing the final drive ratio immediately makes the warranty null and void and the motorcycle can not be used on public roads as it no longer corresponds to the type-approved version.
Wow! That stuff about it now being illegal to change sprockets means insurance companies have even more excuse to refuse coverage for 'modified' bikes. Better cut back on the decals, let alone comfy seats!Damn ... will be interesting to learn what the hell happened, and how Ducati handles it. I'd like to change my rear sprocket but the manual includes this nonsense:

Sorry, no. I was just thinking of things most reasonable riders would change to make the experience better and perhaps safer. Maybe because I was riding one of my Cagivas the other day and couldn't wait to get my *** off it, with the result I dropped it and busted my ankle!Comfy seat? Do you have a source? My *** can't take more than two one-hour trips in a day. Seat concepts only has DesertX and (older) scramblers covered at this point.
Was out mid session at the track and it won't down shift out of 4th into 3rd or lower. Only shifts through 4, 5, 6.
Can't drop it at the dealer for a couple weeks. Any ideas?
Had the same EXACT happen to mine. Finally slammed it into 3rd then it wouldn’t go back up. Was stuck in 1, 2, 3. Dropped it off at the dealer and they said they found that the part that’s attached to the shift drum inside the engine was damaged. Told me it should be no problem to have it repaired under warranty and it would take about a week or two
I talked to the dealer Friday. They said they were in contact with Ducati NA. Said it might be the shift fork or drum. They've had it 2 weeks and said they should know something soon. Sounds like they have to split the cases regardless.
I was curious if more bikes would have this issue.
Interesting
Got a call from the dealer today. Everything is fixed and she’s ready to be picked up. Hopefully some good news is on your way as well!
Even under warranty, it sounds like a huge relief that they didn't need to split the case.
Shop report indicates the highlighted part below. If there's been two on the forum there's surely been (and will be) more of them **** the bed. Let's hope they come up with an improved design/material for this bit. I wonder if shrapnel resulted and was recovered from the clutch case or the rear oil screen, or if the **** just got bent.
@Shore2plz: are you also running quick shifter?
