I've been trying to buy a HS for close to a month now . No dealer within a 100+ mile radius of me . I went to Charleston SC with the dealer not really caring if he sold it or not . I've been talking to NPR in Athens Ga for a month and haven't got a price yet . Called Touring Sport in Greenville SC , they don't even stock them . Called Meyer's in Asheville NC , e-mailed a price of $13k for a 2013 . And finally talked to Daytona which has 2013 on ebay for $10,995 with no return call .
It's the damnest thing I've ever seen . I've never had this much trouble in my life trying to give money away . Is this standard Ducati practice or am I just going about this the wrong way . I'm really confused and wondering should I look at another brand . If it's this hard to buy , what the hell is service going to be like . Any advice .

I'm selling my 2013 red hyperstrada with 6300 miles on it! Are you only looking to buy a new one or are you open to buying a used one?

I'm not really sure what a hyper is going for with 6k miles but I'm thinking around 9,500 for it would be fair.

I bought mine about a month ago from daytona. Had an ok experience, but a great price (10,000 OTD). Try calling and ask for Rob Leonard. They were great during the sale, had a minor paperwork confusion, helped with the shipping, and then had a minor issue with some out of spec fasteners when I got it home. All in all a good experience for a great new bike for 30% less than my local dealers were offering.

Same problem in Australia, when I tired to by the HS, then later the MS the dealer in my home town was a MAJOR jerk around. Ended up buying a beemer instead just because they made it so easy and were so professional to deal with....

Thankfully we've now got more than one dealer here in Melbourne

Here in eastern Canada my dealer is over an hour drive away. Makes little things like a software update or other maintenance a pain but. Really there isn't as much of that as you think, maybe one day a season I take a day off work to trailer the bike up to have it looked at. The rest of the oil changes and what not I do myself, and it's not hard.

Wow, Aushyper buys a Beemer, because his Duc dealer is a jerk. That would have me writing personal letters to Borgo Panigale... In my company, if the CEO got a note like that, there would be hell to pay..

My dealer is Duc Pond Motorsports in Winchester, VA, and so far they are the best dealer I ever bought a bike from.

I hope you try again, maybe with the other dealer.

Well I finally found a dealer to make a deal with . Turned up he was the closest to me . Tom at Augusta Triumph/Ducati in Augusta Ga. was willing to sell me a 2013 HS . Brought it home cleaned some of the decals off , swapped the mirrors out , rode it about 25 miles and went by the DMV to swap tags off the BMW , and just ordered a slip-on and fender eliminator . Plan to put some miles on it in the morning .;)

Agree about DucPond. Very good people to work with. Have purchased a 1200 Multi and now the Hyper from them. If I purchased another Ducati it would be from them, despite another Ducati dealer being 2 miles from my house - DucPond is 65 miles.

:DWhat a strange problem to have, next time I am at the dealer in Johannesburg I'll take a photo for you guys. There must be at least 40 new bikes on the floor, plus a dozen used ones:D

Sounds like he is ready to deal, as the flooring costs must be eating him up!

The Ducati dealership here is associated with Porsche, in fact they are in the old Porsche dealership building that is owned by the dealer principle. I assume that the two businesses run hand in hand.

A few years ago there were bike shops in every town, nowadays things have changed and many of the dealers that specialised in one brand (Suzuki for example) have disappeared and we now see dealerships selling multiple brands off one shop floor. Triumph, Guzzi and Kawasaki are a good example of this, falling under one dealership umbrella.

Only Ducati and Harley have big dealerships over here now, in fact I was out riding in the countryside on Sunday, and I counted nearly 60% of the bikes on the roads were Harleys. It's amazing how the demographics change, 10 years ago every bike on the road was a Japanese race replica:)
