ABS warning.

Yesterday, on my way home from work in pouring rain, I noticed a rear wheel lockup ( Urban Mode - DTC -8 ABS -2 Engine low ) on braking. The ABS light was a steady on. I shut off the engine, restarted ( Key off, kill-switch off and then on again ). As soon as I rode off, the light went off ( as usual ) and the next time I braked hard , the ABS warning came on again.
DTC is still functional as I can feel the Traction control cutting in on hard acceleration on the wet road. I have no anti-lock brakes. The brakes are working fine with no excessive travel or failure to slow the bike down. Fluid levels are fine and the pads have quite a bit of life left in them.
This morning, I noticed that the ABS warning comes on only if I brake hard enough to trigger the pump. It activates and I can feel the pulsation but after that, the light goes on and ABS won't work till a full power off - restart.
Any one has any idea where I can begin looking for minor issues. The dealer is about 300 km away and the bike has spent too much time there already.

Try bleeding the system.

Also, I've heard of the sensor cables getting damaged by rubbing on the brake rotor. There is a small plastic clip on the rear swingarm that can be easily broken. Worth a check

Thanks. I'll get to that this evening. Also plan to check the ABS power connection on the battery.

Pulled the seat off to look at the ABS power cable on the battery.
The ring terminal / cable lug was cracked and almost broken through. I suppose that there was enough current flow to enable the ABS system but the bad lug caused a voltage drop out as soon as the pump kicked in. This is the second time I have been troubled by a bad cable lug. Earlier, it was the main power cable on the battery, now the ABS. I made a new lug with thin copper sheet and crimped it on. The bike performed flawlessly on a 20km test ride.

For those who have the Thailand made Hyper, It is worth checking the condition of the lugs before you head off on a long trip. I am sure this is not an isolated problem.

My rear fluid reservoir retaining bolt has fallen out like 3 times...with loctite. I've had a ziptie holding it in place more than the factory bolt.

Loosely related. Just thought I'd bring that to ya'll's attention.

Hi, 2 years passed on this thread but I hope still there is someone to reply me here...

I'm happy to see that you solved your problem. I'm having the exact same trouble with my bike. I just bought a 2013 model, it's a perfect bike and really loved it but I have this problem now.

Would you please let me know that how can I find those cables on my bike, I want to check before I go to see a dealer.
I saw many people face this problem and there are many solutions on the internet. Some of them are quite expensive advices so I want to start by checking your way.

Thank you.
