What type of action cameras are you all using and recommend? I've narrowed my selections down to the Drift Ghost-S, GOPRO 3+ and the Garmin Virb Elite.

I had a go pro second edition I believe, be wary of their mounting arms. Broke some where on the back of bmw s1000rr. As far as the camera goes it worked well, I don't think I would buy another one though. In my case I found unless you are doing something super exciting miles of road footage get boring pretty quick after about 15 minutes.

Good Luck in your descision.

I opted for the drift ghost and think its fantastic, robust, already water proof, has the best battery life and comes with an intelligent remote. The footage is superb and it will take any standard camera mount.
It can record back in time too!!! excellent feature, has a car mode with the latest software update. The only niggle I have is the phone software app (android operating system). has bugs, but they are working on that.
I'll try and upload a short vid clip from when i was out on my ski last time home.

I might of been swayed towards the Garmin as I have the navigation Fenix watch that can be used as a remote control for the camera, but didn't realise until after I'd bought the watch.

I have the Gopro Hero 3 black edition and have not had any problems with it or the mounts, the battery life could be better.

I have a GoPro Hero3 Black and its great. I do however recommend the use of a cord tether as I have had one GoPro disappear into the scrub when the camera mount came unstuck from the fairing. The replacement camera never travels without the safety cord.

There are a couple of samples of the output at https://vimeo.com/user21151594

I really don't get the constant helmet cam for so many bikers. 99% of my rides are very boring and everything else would be self-incriminating. I get it if you live in Russia but I can barely manage the photo's I snap on my phone a couple times a week...

Well, Jer, it is very flat hear...

I mean I have fun out there but, I don't every get home and think, "Man, wish I had recorded that." Close calls with dumb chicks texting or blasting by the cop at 100+ with out getting pulled over are about the highlight of my daily commute.

Now, a track day/ big group ride/ scenic route are certainly qualifiers but I can just call up the gov't to get footage of that anytime I need it...

I've started to record my rides, if something happens thats not my fault i'd like to think I have some evidence. I just erase the memory when I get home if nothing eventful happened. Its all to easy for a driver to it was the bikers fault.
I had some prick about to overtake a car on a blind bend, either that or he was seriously cutting the corner, lucky I wasn't going fast and managed to avoid the ****, but I got it on camera, his car half over the white line, so glad I was on the inside line!!!

I broke a mount and caught it before it fell off the bike, someplace south of WhiteHorse, Yukon. I found another mount at a camera store in WhiteHorse, on my way to Alaska in 2012 on the Super Tenere.

I have at least 7, 38 minute videos in Alaska where I thought I turned it off but left it on, very boring watching the road go by again! Also messed up several when the aim was off and camera was pointed too much down. Ugh.

I use the Mobius for FPV on my quad copter and also for videos.

Hi all I own a drift but the old hd170.Overall very impressed with the footage quality and ease of use.Love the way you can see what you are recording on the colour screen. The remote doesn't always turn off but may just need other battery replacing. Like the way the camera can be mounted anyway in any position and the lens rotated to be straight.I have an external mike which improves sound quality, and do admit sound is much better on the GoPro! Good range of fittings and attachments and works well on a ram mount. Have tried it at speed approaching 150 mph on autobahn in Germany and picture was rock steady although sound suffered, slow motion good feature too Overall would recommend drift without hesitation

LOL.. I agree, Gat. It's enough bother with the protective gear, and the minimal stuff I bring in the top box. Got my hands full heading to the bike already .... I don't even use ear buds or a phone/music while riding. Wish I could leave more things behind, not less..
