Hello Guys,

A friend of mine has an offer from the Aprilia dealer on a 2014 Caponord to trade in his Versys650. The dealer wont let him test ride it, and all he can do is just go and sit on it. Anybody here has any experience with the new Caponord? He wants some thing similar in size (physical) to Versys650 as he doesn't like bikes like GS12K, Multistrada etc which are very big in size which makes very difficult to handle in city. The electronics package is excellent when compared even with Multirstrada. But what about the reliability, handling etc. He rides my Hyperstrada and love the bike, but doesnt want to OWN a Ducati:eek:

Guys, any thoughts on this...:)

Why no test ride.... Is the Aprilia broken......or is something else wrong with it...

Maybe the dealer has only 1 Caponord and dont want it to get miles or ot let the warranty start?

Did you searched for an other dealer in your direction where you can testride?
Or maybe an used offering from a private person?

I did a test ride of the 2013 Caponord prior to delivery of my Hyperstrada. It was a great bike, but too much bike for me, bit like the Multistrada. If your friend is not a runt like me then he might be really happy with it. I was impressed with the active suspension, bit of a magic carpet.

The June issue of Cycle World has a full road test of the 2015 Caponord 1200 ABS. ;)

Yes the dealer has only one piece in his floor and doesn't want to make it as a demo bike. This part of world bikes wont sell that much like US/Europe except for supersports.

Thanks Hyperpedro and others for the lead. In fact we had an observation that the Caponord is smaller in size when compared to Multistrada and a little bit bigger than my Hyperstrada. Isn't it?

It's supposed to be a very capable bike due to its suspension. Although it was not rated as a multi killer though. Well on the suspension yes but only that.

UK Bike magazine ran a full comparison in 2013 of the Caponard vs Multistrada. An online search may find it, if not lemme know and I'll dig it out

Bike article

I have the scanned magazine article but the file size is too big for the forum and I cant attach docs the private area. If you PM your e-mail I will send them directly to you.
Cheers

The no demo thing is so annoying about bikes. Had they been more liberal with their demo policy my first new bike would have been an 848, but all I could demo was a Daytona. Of course later I found a dealer to let me demo one. But it was to late. I rewarded that place with buying my Strada there, but I still want an 848 for the collection heh.

The Caponord is not smaller then the new Multi.
Caponord has got great reviews. You get lots for the money comp to Multistrada.
I think your friend will love it, but its not a Multistrada and are little less in everything in compair.

Try to find one to testride, or if you can find a Dorsoduro 1200 (same engien and so on) you can have a feel of the bike.. Dorsoduro 1200 is a bit larger then Hyperstrada/hypermotard and smaller then Multistrada.

have you seen that the question is 1 year old ?

My next door neighbor writes for Rider magazine and did a full test of the Caponard and rode one for about a month. He was very impressed and enjoyed it while it was available to him. It's not a Multistrada, but your friend could certainly do worse!
