Posting here just as a PSA.

When you downshift, ensure you stomp on it hard. Three times, I had my bike lurch forward with throttle completely shut. I found that if you don't stomp hard while downshifting, the autoblipper rev matching function keep the engine rpm high and it stays there if the downshift didn't really occur (even though the throttle is completely shut) causing the bike to accelerate.

I think Ducati should add a safety feature to limit the rev match to a short interval (say less than 200 milli seconds for example) so that the bike doesn't lurch and go hit something in front. I got lucky.. pulled in the clutch all three times quick enough to avoid any crash.

Maybe it is just my bike.. regardless, be aware of this issue.

Thanks HM. Curious if it was or wasn’t any specific gear change where you found it.

False neutrals were always a ***** on 690 up shifts, but more embarrassing than dangerous. 698 transmission has been far better for me.

Not necessarily relevant to this tricky problem, but I've always found it vital to adjust the gear lever so that I get full travel effortlessly. I had a Monster 750 that the new owner claimed was giving false neutrals between gears and I'm certain it was only that his foot and ankle angle weren't achieving full travel on the lever, and not a gearbox fault at all. Of course, this predated quick-shifter technology and associated electronic complication.

This particular scenario, it doesn't hit false neutral. It stays in the same gear that it was which is why lurching causes a safety issue.. as you can imagine, the bike continues accelerating even though throttle is completely closed. I did not have this issue for the first 700 miles when I didn't have the quick shifter installed yet.

There is a false neutral between 4th & 5th on my bike (on upshift). Stomp the darn pedal whether up or downshifting..

What is the pressure switch on the clutch lever? Is it related to the auto blip?

Back in the day the add on auto blipper for the R6 was activated with a pressure switch on the clutch lever.

I think the 2023 KTM RC390 has a similar switch.

May the clutch lever switch simply be an interlock for starting? I know nuffing about auto blippers!

Ack all. Was just curious if it had been a particular downshift (e.g. 4->3 or 2>1) that was causing you grief.

Maybe that how you start it in gear. Right.

I had a shorty clutch lever on my 690 and it was missing the *** to actuate the micro switch. What a pain in the arse … any stall and I had to go dig for neutral. Also a mild liability from the safety perspective, but I hate four finger levers.
