Hi All.
Having just sold my 8 month old Ducati Monster I am now eagerly awaiting delivery of my ordered Hyperstrada. I live in Pattaya, Thailand and am told buy Ducati Pattaya that I will be first in this region to take delivery of 2013 Hyperstrada...Cool or what?
Ok , I ride quite hard and pretty much 100% on roads not trails...Do I
A) Need to change my stock tires?
B) Should I remove center stand for better cornering?
On my Monster I had 'Ground Away' approx one third of my Rear Brake Lever through tight fast cornering??
What say you?

Sweet, Meky. Welcome.

a) It seems like Michelin Pilot Road 3's would be the best alternative. The stock Scorpion's are great but you won't need that 5% off-road rating and the PR3's last quite a bit longer. I'd wear out the stocker's first as they grip really well on wet/dry pavement.

b) I think benefit of center stand outweighs need to lay it over farther but I've yet to drag it, either. Some testers and forum members have scraped it, though, and sounds like you'll want to ditch it.

Is it just a fun bike? If so, did you look into HyperMotard? More akin to naked monster you had without all the touring gear attached, more ground clearance, better suspension and tires (on SP, at least).

I agree with gatdammit, wear out the stock tyres first, the Scorpions offer very good grip on roads surfaces wet and dry. I have about 6,800km on mine and am about to replace them and will probably fit Pirelli Angel GTs but a few of my mates are devoted to the Pilot 3s.

I have the Hyperstrada low and have ground the centre stand on both sides and also the foot pegs (and the toes of my boots), but haven't found it a great problem and thus have not found the need to remove it. I do run with the full rear suspension preload which helps maintain clearance.

Got 10,000kms on the stock Scorpions and just changed to Pirelli Angel GTs. The bike handles much better now :D

Thanks Chaps. I am only 172 cm tall and chose the Hyperstrada for the lower height . Plus I like the ability to pack the bike for upcoming Thailand to Cambodia and Vietnam trips....V excited now, can't wait to get out.
Thanks again.

I got a pretty decent cut in the stock set at about 4500 and switched to the Pirellis.
Also very happy with the Multi top box instead of the stock zipper option, hard, waterproof and lockable.
There was a great MCN article about better cornering technique on the Hyper, might not even need to remove the stand.

Thanks for that. have tried to find the article in MCN regards cornering and Hyperstrada? Can't find it, though not sure how the H'Strada would corner any different from other bikes...Though' am happy to try new techniques! Do u have a link I might follow?
Regards.

I only get hard copies. We read them then pass them on to friends.
It was great because it was all about the contrasting styles motard/motorcross vs street.
We do get a few other glossy's as well i will look again...
