Buying Advice for Hyperstrada 821 as Street Triple R Replacement

Hi!

I've been looking into a hyperstrada 821 as a more pratical, comfortable replacement for my Street Triple R. It's a lovely bike, but lacks hooligan factor and isn't really comfortable at all over lesser roads. Long distances are also a pain.

I have taken into consideration that the SP has better suspension, but it is honestly too high for my relatively short stature. The hyperstrada does come with the touring bits and bobs I would be buying anyway. My only concern is that the hyperstrada has a lower front suspension as compared to the motard. I've also read that the geometry wouldn't be as agressive on the Strada, which would sway me into buying the motard and adding the touring bits and bobs. I am budgeting for an Andreani cartridge kit for the forks, but would this add 2cm to the fork travel and so raise the Strada forks to hypermotard level?

It also wouldn't really make sense that the geometry would be less aggressive. According to Ducati specs, both have 150mm rear travel, with the Strada having 150 front travel and the motard having 170 front travel. Wouldn't the Strada having lower forks make the steering geometry steeper?

Other advice for looking into a Strada are absolutely welcome, thanks in advance!

I upgraded my 'strada suspension with Nitron carts and rear shock. The height came up to SP levels. (I was happy about that, I have long legs).

Geometry can be refined with correct preload front and back. I prefer my steering "nimble" so raise the rear to help with that.

I find the Strada to be a nimble handler. I also put full nitron suspension. The other thing you might want to do is a judder spring/clutchpack replacement (full thread on this), as it transforms the clutch performsnce. The OEM is a grabby thing. In general it is a bike you have to get used to if you haven't ever had a Ducati. It doesn't love low revs, and it has strong engine braking. It is a blast if you can calibrate your wrist carefully. LOL

Hi. I just bought a 2013 Hyperstrada 821 and the clutch is giving me hard time. I tried to find the the Anti-Judder Kit DU 133/6, but no luck. Any advices?

I hunted around and had no luck. Try contacting the company directly - they are a ducati OEM so they might have an answer for you. Let us know what you find.
