Careful replacing your License Plate Bulb Cover (Very Fragile)

Factory Bulb went out after barely a year.
Replaced with an LED bulb.
Looks better/Seems brighter.

Anyway, be careful with the tab that releases the clear cover.
Apparently it's made of some sort of Brittle, Clear Italian Pasta that becomes fragile as Paper-Mache.

Reaaaal Pain in the rear to remove after the tab snaps.

Trying to find a new piece (I'm sure it's not worth seeing if it's Warranty-able.)

Searched here and Google.
Can't find it.

Numbers on it are: "DOT SAE L07" and "50R-002698"

Anyone either Have a spare one from a tail tidy/ Integrated Turn Signal install (not sure if it changes) or know the part number/where to order?

Thanks!!

End tab on mine broke when I was attempting the same. 3M Scotch has clear plastic tape at every hardware store. Repair your lens, or just use the tape.

I have used that plastic tape for all sorts of repairs. Leaves no residue.

Hahah this is a common occurrence... I used black RTV around the edge to put mine back in place.

It happened to me twice. I tried replacing it once, and then just said screw it the second time.

Edit: Here's the part number if you really want another to break: 24713332A

The hidden shame. :( I busted mine long ago, and cursed my clumsiness. Nice to know I'm part of a club.

I have a volo light with its own license plate light. Replacement is inexpensive, from what I remember - if it matters.

Glad it wasn't just my butterfingers.

So, the 3M plastic tape holds up over time?

Just one or two strips across the bottom?

This is good to know. If that bulb ever goes out on mine I think I'll just split the tail section and leave the clear plastic in it's place.
