Changing the rear sprocket

Hi

I feel the rpm a little bit to high on the 6th gear at 110 km/h when cruising.
Has someone change the rear sprocket from 45 to 42 (or 40) teeth?

I'd be interested in a less jerky ride below 30. Not sure if smaller sprocket would help.

I've also considered changing the gearing, but I'm thinking of going up one tooth on the front sprocket same effect as two teeth smaller in the back but without narrowing the chain around the big swing arm

Yea it all depends on what you want to do with it, some do allot of highway driving so lowering the engine RPM at 140 km/h is my goal, but if you do mostly city or canyon riding and want low end torque you want a smaller front/bigger rear sprocket.

I was just think the same thing. I would like a little bit lower rpm's on the highway. I have only ever messed around with rear sprocket on my trail bike. But would love to hear results of someone with some experience.

I have been riding some more now and the problem is actually that my butt does not like the very small vibrations above 4000 rpm.

I had worse problems with my Multistrada 1100 and used a AIRHAWK Seat cushions. Worked perfect.

So I will by a AIRHAWK that fits the HS.

Today I changed the rear sprocket from 45 to 41 teeth.
Had to remove 2 links from the chain also (108 -> 106).

45 teeth
6th gear: 100 km/h = 4475rpm

41 teeth
5th gear: 100 km/h = 4440 rpm
6th gear: 100 km/h = 4078 rpm

The new 5th gear will be as the old 6th gear, and the new 6th gear will be as the old 7th gear that I tried to find

I will update you as soon as I have made a test ride.

On my earlier Ducatis (Monster and Multistrada), my dealer adviced me to change the front sprocket from 15 to 14 teeth.
I don't think it will affect the warranty.

Here is an update after test ride.
The 6th gear is much better. Fits me perfect.
The 1st gear suffer a little, but it's ok. I learned quite quick how to handle the throttle and the coupling. It was about the same as my old Multistrada.

was also thinking along this line. is there a 16-tooth front sprocket for the hyperstrada?
