dreaded cracked rear header

Oh well, after 6 years and 27k miles, my rear exhaust header needs some TLC.
Noticed over a while a slight blowing and cackle/pop on off throttle, getting gradually worse and can see clearly now that the rear header is cracked.
Going to strip it down for the 27k service and get the header away for welding.
good job I've other bikes to ride in-between.

yep quite a common fault, I see they changed the part No. on the later bikes.
I'm just going to get mine welded.

I had a lot of off-throttle backfires. Never thought to check header integrity. Didn't get enough time to listen after installed Akra header. Hoping to get a much revitalized bike back in a couple days.

Well got the header off, there were multiple cracks, one quite big, sorry I should have took pictures, any way its been welded up for £10.00 by a local fabrication place.
Will be re-fitting once I get home from offshore.
Glad I have done this whilst the 27k service was due, because the tank has to be removed to get to the header bolts!!, so the spark plugs have been replaced and the foam air filter cleaned.
