Hi
I am new to posting on forums but it's time !
From the start.
I am an offroader trials and enduros but always wanted a Ducati , but the bikes were not quite right for me as an offroader.
Then came along the Hypermotard 1100s "a Ducati with motocross bars" it was made for me !!!!
I ordered one 2 days after it was on the front page of MCN "on the production line.
It has now done over 14000 miles with 6 French alps trips included , the most miles I have done in one day is 520 miles in the French alps "hairpin bends" and I loved every minute ( almost the 10 miles was hard !)
It has a lot of carbon and I love it every time I ride it.
But time to go !!
I ordered the new Hypermotard SP 821 on the 15 November A few days after seeing first pictures. And it is about a mouth away :)
I have read forums with people running new hyper down (all experts)
I have loved my hyper and have proof of 14000 miles ,and it can be toured!!
But let's be honest it was made up of old parts so it is time for update.
And if WE love Ducati I think they know much more about how to make a motorcycle than WE do!!!!
My new Hypermotard SP is going to be TWO bikes it is also going to be a Hperstrada SP as well !

please pics from the moment you have the bike! I asked my dealer of the colorcombination of the SP are stickers because i like it very much but he think it will be painted. Hopefully he's wrong :)

22tpk I thought about going the SP route too. Then figured my type of riding may not require the upgraded suspension. So I'm going to go with the Hyperstrada and then down the road maybe do some simple upgrades to start. I grew up riding offroad but now that I'm an old man :D most of my riding is going to be on the street. I think this is going to be an exciting bike with plenty of power for fun. Look forward to your pictures

Hopefully he's wrong :)

i was hoping for the same!!! i also thought on buying the SP but its a little more expensive than what i had planned, since im looking for a cruiser i would need to throw a lot more money at it to give it the strada treatment. if the SP is indeed painted i think i could find someone locally to replicate the design but on stickers.

Sticker kits are easy look at what Crispy Designs has done we can to the same with the Hypers...

I think the question here is how much better is the SP or what is the difference between the three bikes. I'm not talking about the specs. We all know them, I'm talking about actually riding them and comparing. The few things I have seen say the SP in fantastic.... But what about the other two, how fantastic are they? I guess what I'm trying say is how much better is the SP if its better. I was going to put a deposit down this weekend but I am undecided. Just me talking but if the SP is all that it maybe worth getting it with all the hyperstrada touring options. Oh that's if I can touch the ground on it HA! 30" inseam

Well I thought thwe main difference was the suspension and the media has said it was stiffer than the non-SP but then its adjustable so you could change that, they will be taller because of it. The fuel map or rider modes are labled different but I didnt think the settings were any different.

The only difference on riding modes is that on the SP on race mode the rear ABS is disengaged so that you can slide into turns

Talked to a dealer that just got back from riding the mortards, he said they did about a 60 mile trip on the hyperstrada and also rode the SP. He was all about the hyperstrada and said it was his favorite riding. He pretty much said if you wanna race get the SP, but if not get the Hyperstrada. I talked to him about 30 or 40 minutes about the bikes, still I am going to wait till the SP and the Hypermotard arrive sometime this month before making a final decision.
