What will you be tuning? There's not much they can do without aftermarket parts, specifically a tuner like Power Commander, RapidBike, etc.
I don't recall anyone on this forum mentioning it. The motard crowd on ducati.ms probably have. You won't see much in gains without a tuner, airbox mod and full pipe. That's also near $2000 in parts.
It would depend on what you want to gain from a tune. Are you having any ride ability issues with the bike as it is now? Do you want to add accessories and get a couple more ponies out of the bike?
My tuner can tune using the stock ECU to get rid of any surging or snatchiness in the fueling or remap if you do airbox and exhaust.
I am looking at better fuelling down low.. seems to be lean below 4000 rpm. the bike is awesome at pace on the back roads. its slow city riding, that i feel the poor fueling. I am looking at a bazzaz tuner, with a dyno tune for 550. I like the sound of the stock pipe
Rexxer is a little cheaper and very good but it's a one-time tune based on current configuration (pipe, air box, etc.). RapidBike continuously adapts or can be customized, but costs a little more and requires skill or a tech to install.

thats true - rexxer is a onetime tune, as standard ecumapping also is.
advantage - no connected piggypack always needed .
disadvantage - no "simple" changes without costs possible if any hardware changes, like exhaust, .....
rapidbike is the opposite - its a piggypack which can adopt immediatly to changed situations.
i think both have advantages and disadvantages and its up to you what you like more. I do not like a piggypack always connected, it's an additional failurefactor in my opinion.
