Engine Light - Slipped out of 6th

2016 Hyperstrada - I was out on a short jaunt up to the mountain the other day, the trip up was uneventful but on the way back, I was cruising at around 65mph in 6th and all of a sudden the bike seemed to slip out of gear. At the time, it was shocking enough that I wasn't fully aware of the details, I pulled the clutch, moved all the way over and glided to safe place. The bike was running the entire time but had dropped to idle until I cut the engine off, at which point I noticed the check engine light had illuminated and has remained illuminated.

Upon shutting the bike completely off, I shifted all the way down to neutral which means the transmission was still shifted up to 6th gear as I had to press down multiple times to get to neutral.I turned the bike back on with no weird noises, the bike seemed to be running just fine, I pulled out onto the highway, the bike shifted through the gears as normal, I did check to make sure I hadn't dropped oil, or anything weird, nothing was out of sorts.

The bike has ~3000 miles on her, the only modifications to the bike are a full Akro titanium exhaust, a Rapidbike Easy unit, servo eliminator, and a set of heated grips I recently installed.

Any advice would be appreciated.

had the same thing sometimes with my former 821. sometimes also with shutoff of engine. at the end i found out it always occured when heated grips were on. with grips off it never occured.
there was some strange errorcode in ecu which i do not remember any more. after 5 times of shutting off it did not start again until errorcode was deleted from ecu, then everything was fine again.
dismounted heated grips and problem never occured. error code delete i did with my rexxer evo box.
hyper bus system seems to be quite sensitive.
does not mean your problem is the same, but maybe.

I have a 2014 and often found a false neutral when back shifting from six to five. I subsequently learned it's a (one of quite a few) common problem, and some, but not all, dealerships had a warranty solution for it. Best of luck to you on this!
