Ever wonder if the Safety Pack actually works?

Well, it does.

I was turning left through a 4-way intersection today on a slow roll waiting for passing traffic. After the on-coming car passed, I dipped the bike left and slowly rolled on the gas. I was only going about 10 mph as it was in a 25 mph area. I was in a pretty heavy lean when I crossed the large reflective-taped pedestrian crosswalk and the bike started to low side. She went pretty deep and the rear tire more slid than spun. I'm usually pretty careful over road tape and paint but this was on a military base and the road was coated with JP-5 and other fluids.

I pulled the clutch, got upright off the seat and the she stood right back up. It was all very quick and undramatic. My settings were MED/DTC-3/ABS-1. It wasn't until I got back on it after a quick stop that I realized just how low I got (center stand and shifter).

Yup, you got pretty low, that's for sure. ABS has saved my bacon a few times already avoiding collisions, and I'm sure the DTC has kept me shinny side up on a few corners with excessive amount of gravel on AB roads.

Glad you saved it.

Maybe off topic but ignore if you must. :D Can the shifter and brake pegs be adjusted? I would like to rotate mine but see no way to do it.

For what it's worth I did the exact same thing to my shifter/center stand today at the track. I didn't slide or crash, just put it in enough of a lean to drag the pegs. The shifter is not very high off the ground and bending it is very easy to do. I am not a pro rider by any stretch.

I have had the *** end slide out on more than one occasion (esp on dirt). The DTC kicks in after about a half second.

The ABS/Traction control definitely works. Painted lines are like ice for motorcycle tires. Theres not a safety system in the world that is prepared for that.

I heated it at the base and gently bent it back to mostly straight. If you haven't already, don't just go at it with pliers as it will break right off.

What tires are you running? I can't get my PR3's to slide like my stock Skorpions...except the one time above.

Hi Marc, you can change the angle of the break pedal arm and the gear shift arm. There are threaded adjusters in the both linkages.

Thank you BlueSwede,

Yes I know about the linkages I was wondering if you can adjust the piece that your toe actually contacts. On other Italian bikes I have had that is adjustable but I see no way on the Hyper. My shifter peg is vertical "|" and I would like to rotate it to horizontal "_". Maybe it just can't be done on this base model machine. :D

What's really gonna bite you is that they're actually 2 pieces. The actual peg on the lever is riveted in place. So, when you bend that soft aluminum peg and it snaps trying to right it, you have buy a whole damn new assembly...or, drill it out and mount a bolt wrapped in tape like I did on my first one.

I ordered a new shift lever on my way back from the track, will take the old one and try to rig up some sort of replaceable peg. I can't believe Douchecati doesn't build bikes with pegs that come off of the lever. That seems like lame-*** penny-pinching manufacturing to me.

I'm at 5,000 miles on the stock Scorpions (in about 3 months of riding) I'll be due for some new ones in the spring but was considering something a little more dirt-worthy. The bike can't be leaned over far enough to properly use super sporty tires anyway :)

Don't call your lawyers if you snap anything- but you can put a pair of vice grips on the peg and rotate them. You didn't hear it here.:)
