Exhaust valve removal

i unplugged the servo motor. Really easy to get to. Disables that annoying motor buzzing sound on startup. Now it's louder when you rev it and one less thing to break.

Interesting the valve stays in the open position when you unplug it. Did it free up any horsepower or help in any way.

I just disconncted the cable at the butterfly end, keeping the electrical side connected so as not to throw any fault codes. The servo still sweeps its test.

The servo can be fully removed with no check engine light, as far as I know. Some other Ducati models get lights if they remove the servo. So you shouldn't need one of those bypass units.

Thanks man that's good to know

I unhooked my cable and left it hanging, there is a loss of a bit torque, doesn't seem to rev as quickly, I can feel it rolling on while on the freeway, but hey, it sounds cool. :D

It is easy to hook back up though.

I unhooked my cable from the valve side, I also have a Remus exhaust with Cat delete and boy did it get louder. Backfires a bit more too (running leaner?). I am now getting an engine code.

To fix this I am going to go to ACE and put a spring on the cable so the servo motor "feels" like it is opening and closing the valve.

that aint right

I disconnected mine completely and removed it now. No codes. You might have a separate issue if youre getting a light. TPS, O2 sensor, etc.

I agree. For me, it's plenty loud in stock form, even more so with a different muffler (I have a Termi low mount). I doubt it improves power to change the valve and the weight savings are insignificant... It would be nice to have comments from the engineering team in Borgo P., with real data on the valve's effects and purpose... does anyone know if they engage with the public/Ducati enthusiasts anywhere online?

I just wanted to clarify for those who are not that good with a wrench or feel intimidated by doing this mod. Its totally worth it! I feel that my bike (2015-16) is a lot more responsive and the idle is much better. Riding around town is a lot easier in 1st now, and blipping the trottle dsnt stall the engine :D best of all, no wrench needed! I found no instructions at all so i tried myself. Got some shop service manual and started digging. Turns out the connector is located just at the side of the battery. So i dont think you have to remove the battery, but i did.http://s22.postimg.org/pjfrbbyw1/DSC_0118.jpg

I also tried tu unplug the connector, and the weird thing was I'd swear the bike actually got quieter, like the valve remained close all the time after disconnection. Is it possible or do I dream things up?

I wouldn't say impossible, but it's spring loaded open. If you're that worried about it, just remove the cable from the spring assembly.

At service my dealer found that the valve got stuck closed and had to free it up. After that I just unscrewed the metal cover on the side of the valve and removed the cable from the assembly, making sure it was tucked neatly out of the way and not catching anything.

It's definitely louder now. Love it.
