...does anyone have any experience with this helmet or perhaps its successor, the X4?
I can imagine that it'll cause quiet some noise and turbulence but boy it sure looks nice. Tricky part is to get hold of one in Europe/Netherlands, though...

Hi Mike, I've had a string of adventure bikes - Honda Transalp, KTM 625SXC, BMW G650GS, Multistrada 1000, KTM 625SXC again :) and now the Hyper. I've always had a peaked helmet, Arai Tour or Shoei Hornet. I like the peak for dawn and dusk riding and they have worked well on my previous bikes. However with the Hyper the windscreen deflects air directly under the peak. I'm always fighting the helmet and get a sore neck after an hour or so on the bike. Turning my head to check side roads etc puts great strain on me as even more air catches the peak. There is also an unacceptably high level of noise and buffeting. I have tried a taller Puig touring screen and add on deflector and the shorter Fabbri screen in addition to the standard screen. None of them make any significant difference. I haven't tried the Ducati carbon screen and I prefer to have a bit of wind protection as I tend to ride longer distances.

The difference is, I believe, the windscreen placement. On my previous bikes the windscreen has been further forward from the rider. On the Hyper the windscreen is much closer.

In the end I have got a HJC raphia 10 full face helmet after testing a number which works just fine - its quiet, no buffeting and also very light.

I'm about average height at 5'10".

Cheers.

Thanks for the info, Tim.
I'm a measly 5'6" and I do not even own a HS to begin with, but I'm planning to own one in a few weeks (or by february latest).
I was expecting an answer like yours: the sheer model of such a helmet will probably cause problems at higher speeds (with Hypermotards for sure) but I could not find any reviews with this particular helmet on the HS.
I wonder whether, considering my height and the Strada's tiny screen, I will experience the same problems as you had.
Have you tried sitting more backwards (or closer to the screen)?

At 6' 1" I have no issues with my Arai XD3. This looks like an XD3 or 4 that they made for Ducati.

I've had no issues with air grabbing the peak when looking ahead or turning my head. I have run both the stock Strada windscreen, and am now using the Fabbri gen-x windscreen.
