Full System Worth It?

Stradista's,

So got a tax return check burning a hole in my pocket and keep pulling the Akra header up in my search bar. The claimed power bump isn't thrilling considering the price (about $1K). I guess that's a compliment to the work Duc put into stock pipe.

There's a few pro's: weight savings, finally fully delete the flapper, looks ******* (titanium), slight power bump, sound/ throttle response(?).

You can see from my signature I've got most of the crucial mods. I could do the rear suspension but it handles more than adequate for it's current duties. I feel like they design the system as a whole and it's like a top 3 mod on my cars. I've also got some O2 issues that need to be sorted. It's not a bad install job and it's going in for 18K mile service very soon. My dream is that I get it back with the new header, belts, hoses, valve adjustement, etc. and it blows my mind brain.

Discuss.

Just bought a 2016 with the full titanium akro exhaust and I'm seriously considering putting the stock exhaust back on. I really am unimpressed with all aspects of it, the throttle response is complete ****, acceleration is crap, I'm sure the guy who installed it didn't put a tune on it so now I'm left to doing that.

Oh, definitely needs a tune. Even if it's got an air filter upgrade with slip-on will need a tune.

I'd try getting a tune before ditching the header.

I wouldn't waste the money on it. The stock header pipes are huge and straight through, so you won't gain much if anything by going with a full system versus just a slip on without cat. I personally think the bike has the right amount of power as is.

I'm back to getting used to the power all over again after so long riding my thumper. It's plenty for me. Lots of make them gone power for slowpoke cagers in front of you.

It's an amazing motor, but I'll never stop trying to squeeze more out. I'm sorta one of those "there's no such thing as too much power" kinda guys.

Ya, a veteran on a dialed in SV650 could probably dust me on a track, but I'll edge him picking through traffic for open pockets of autostrade. My bike certainly isn't overpowered for it's current use.

If there had been a 1199 or 1260 HS option, I would have bought it. It's a subjective argument. I ordered the header.
