Gas smell...

Hello All,

My 16 hyper after a ride for the last 2-weeks has been smelling like gasoline, it's very noticeable in the garage. I have not detected any leaks. I have the RapidBike easy module with charcoal canister still intact. Before I go too deep, has anyone experienced this issue?

They vent a lot when static. I'm sure you've heard it farting. My canister fell off very early in it's life and still does this. Fumes are usually faint in a shut garage.

Thanks for the followup; I guess it's just been happening a lot in the last 2 weeks. Nothing like it before, she's growing up I guess. I do remember the strong gas smell on my 900ss, but that was during idle.

The amount of venting is probably related to air pressure, but someone smarter than me would have to elaborate. Like, if your weather is changing significantly could effect how much it gasses off. It's trying to keep equilibrium inside the tank.

Check under the tank where the fuel leaves the tank - it's near the rear shock under a plastic piece. See if you see any fuel - could be the quick release o-ring. Not sure a strong fuel smell is normal. I store mine in my studio during the winter, and there my be a hint of fuel, but not much.
