Gearbox Failure

Just over 10000 km on my 2013 Hypersytrada and can't shift down beyond 3rd or 4th gear I'm not sure, I can shift up to 6th gear but can't get it into neutral. No previous symptoms at all. The bike is at the dealer at this moment...I have no idea what went wrong. Anyone with the same issues?

I'm having difficulties with the clutch as well. I was unable to engage the neutral just yesterday. So I continued my ride and the neutral was again accessible shortly after a few shifts. Sometime the clutch seems to stuck when I try downshifting. I have to apply more pressure. I'm reaching 21000+ km.

time for an oil change?

I had some trouble finding neutral, until I changed the oil at 5K miles (8k km). Motul 300 in 10/40 is the right choice, made a big difference.

Hi, my gearbox has been working well. I find I have to give it a determined tug to avoid false neutral between 5 and 6. After first service and oil change (red line synthetic), it does seem to shift a little more easily...

NewRider maybe check cable action (and grease/lube) - see other threads about clutch cable failures.

Well....I called the dealer today.

It turned out to be a broken spring in the shifter mechanism that wasn´t returning the shifter to its original position. The guy told me that spring often failed in older Monster models or when the bike is dropped on that side causing the lever to bend and damaging the spring.

My bike has never been dropped or the shifter forced in any way so I guess it came faulty from factory. They replaced it under warranty so at least I didn´t have to pay but brings me many thoughts about the reliability of the bike... :(

I was going to say I had that happen to that Cagiva Gran Canyon I had with the air cooled 2 valve 900cc motor. Shift linkage return spring broke, it happens not frequently but it does.

broken gear shift spring +1

+1
just got the same problem, shift isn't anymore moved up, need to be raised by foot before being able to down shift.
Dealer told me " we have ordered a dozen of replacement springs" , since we had to change lately quite often on testatstreta engines...

Its good that Ducati re-engineered that mechanism so that spring will not break with these new engines!

gearbox shifter springs change

I got my HS back from repair.
Mechanics told me that they had to change both springs.
One was broken, the other one was changed since references has changed since 2013, and as they works together and are paired.
What has changed ?, much more smooth and easy to handle :)
Replacement under warranty, including oil and cooler liquid change as they had to open engine.

Hey guys, it's been a minute since I've checked the forum out; I've since sold my HS.

But I saw this and just wanted to mention that you're not alone. I sold my bike to a guy up in Baltimore. I never had issues with my transmission, just the electrical/coils and fuel injection problems. But this guy had it about a month or two and he called me asking about the transmission; saying that he was getting missed shifts and stuck in between gears. I thought maybe it was because he was riding in boots that he wasn't used too and maybe just not giving a "full shift", if you will. But it turns out that he rides in tennis shoes (not my recommendation…but I think we've all done that a time or two)…

I guess the dealer replicated and verified the problem. Last I heard, he had to bring it in and split the cases to solve the issue. Haven't heard from him after that. Hopefully they got it fixed I know that it makes you feel like crap when someone buys something from you and has issues.
