Hi
Has anybody changed the gearing of their hyperstrada yet, I would like to lower the revs for motorway cruising. Not to sure the best way to go whether to change front or rear sprocket.

Conversely I changed the front sprocket down one tooth to a 14 so it pulls better down low. 3 in the back equals 1 in the front

I change the rear spocket to 41 teeth. Had to shorten the chain to 106 links.
Lower the rpm with about 500 at 100 km/h. Perfect for me.

Thanks for the advice StefanR, where did you get the rear sprocket from?
I have tried all my local sources and they cannot supply a front or rear sprocket yet as it is such a new bike.

I also changed the front sprocket to 14 tooth. Much better around town.

With the dicky clutch it was hard to start in traffic without the fear of stalling.

Thanks for the link StefanR.

Fuel consumption - Just back from 2 week tour from aberdeen to Sardinia and Corsica. Fuel consumption drops by about 10mpg if you sit above 6000rpm
constantly on motorways. Tank range to reserve above 6000rpm was 105 miles, best on trip was 162 miles to reserve doing the mountain passes in Sardinia.

Thanks Hyperjon, sounds like a good ride you had, you going to post some pics??
I'm just planning a trip with my mate to Greenock, Inverclyde. doing the A6 and coast road where possible, but will be in Nov when i'm home. Three day short trip, just hope my heated grips are in!!
Have to say i'm quite envious of your trip, would like to do something like that.
how did you find the hyper?? would you change anything.

Will try and get some pics form the trip photographer this weekend.
The bike was constantly the most efficient of fuel and tended to need about 2-3 litres less than the rest at petrol stops.
The bike performed brilliantly on the trip without any issues (we covered 3500 miles in total)
A couple of 500 mile days and the seat did not give me any real pain over that distance.
Things I would change for next trip would be tyres for more road based ones i my only off roading was on camp sites. And i will try to fit my aluminium hepco panniers as the panniers do leak in thunderstorm conditions, though my luggage was packed in plastic bags and stayed dry mainly.
Winter project will be making brackets to fit the panniers to the existing mount system.
Had the ducati performance tank bag on trip and was impressed with it, ideal for weekend trips, and had aquaroll bag over back seat and rack for keeping tent in.

.

I have given that some thought over the last few months and I don't know how you feel about this but my thinking was remove the OEM lock mechanism from the OEM bags. Make a paper template of the mount hole from the OEM bags. Locate the hard bags in such a manner as to clear everything, exhaust, passenger ect. Mark and drill holes in the hard bags using template as a guide. Install OEM lock mechanism with some RTV and go!

I was hoping to have been there already but I have had no luck selling my previous bike which would be funding that venture! HJ I have seen what Ducati Bellevue has been up and have been in contact with them, also Motocorsa has something up there sleeve.....

I would like some engine guards to!!

Since Ducati Bellevue is my dealer I am on their facebook feed. I think they are saying the hard case mounts are ready but don't know if they stock of the mounts yet.
