Givi monokey top case solution

Initially I mounted givi monokey for multistrada (sr312). Because I could't install the support arms, top case broke the handle. (here is link)

Now I learned the way to put support arms. This is what I did, do it own your own risk. It feels solid and it is not wobbly anymore.

Fact: Ducati Multistrada top case plate is actually Monokey plate, and it is very similar design to Hyperstrada plate in terms of mounting support arms. PS. hyperstrada top case plate is not monkey.

I wanted to keep panniers so I ordered the parts accordingly.
My dealer was very helpful for the parts; they had to look for each item from the accessory list.

What I ordered:

1x Ducati Multistrada 1200 top case plate MN# 96700610A (mine came with mounting screws 6pcs.

4x Convex socket cap screw M4x16 Incase Multi plate comes without screws
2x Short spacer (when installing with side pannier kit)
2x Socket cap screw M8x40
2x Socket cap screw M8x45
1x RH top case linkage (support arm)
1x LH top case linkage (support arm)

Below item is not in the list. Because the original screw is short, I came up with my own solution.
2x M6x40 and some washers to fill the gap, I used 3 washers per arm.

Please check the images below for accuracy.

Nice! I was planning to do this, but my track days are raping my bank account.. Let me get this straight...

You bought the multistrada mounting plate and combined it with the Hyperstrada support arms and replaced the screws with slightly longer ones to make up for the space difference? How much money did you pay for just the arms? I feel like my dealership will want to shoot me if I asked them to do that. Oh well..

Btw, I spoke with some of the brass at Altrider and they are trying to work out some time to design guards, etc for the Hyper. They are currently focusing on the R12GS, but hopefully we'll see some topcase support. Pun intended...

Nice workaround. I would shave those long bolts and maybe hit with a little black spray paint. So, what did you spend for everything?

I'm sure it's cheaper than the $800+ oem topper but, the Duc box is probably lighter and I like the integrated back rest.

I have all the bits to do the same thing but i bought the MS top box for the paint color match(and those reflectors on the givi box look like balls) and backrest. I havent installed it yet just did a dry run and noted i would have to adjust the support arm angle at the box mount(where you installed washers to take up space)
All in with taxes in Canada $1100

I bought the parts in different times Ducati MS 1200 plate was £33.00; Hyperstrada arms, spacers and screws around £90.00 if I am not mistaken. I will check and correct if it is wrong. For givi V46 top Case £210.00.

Price was not the only problem. It did not feel safe. I live in city and I park the bike on different location, so I can't leave anything in semirigid case.

You don't need to adjust the arms; angle works. MS plate and HS plate are same shape, they just have different top box mount systems.

I put the washers between plate and the arms, they looked 4-5 mm lower.

can you list what each set of screws and such are for baed on the diagram including the ones you mentioned are not in list ?.

that and do you have the actual part numbers of the items ordered ?

I lost the invoices, and i don't have the boxes. your dealer should be able to find in ducati parts system.

Bellow each item starts with number that shows on diagram
Number (4) - 4x Convex socket cap screw M4x16
Number (10) - 2x Short spacer (when installing with side pannier kit)
Number (13) - 2x Socket cap screw M8x40
Number (14) - 2x Socket cap screw M8x45
Number (15) - 1x RH top case linkage (support arm)
Number (16) - 1x LH top case linkage (support arm)

Longer screw is Number (4) - 2x M6x40 to connect the plate and the support arms.

Just for the arms £54+vat

thinking here, I have a generic givi plate already. which is a grid work setup which allows multiple mounting points (img below). Would I be able to just buy the suport bars and use the plate to mount them to.

What I would need to know is if the support bars bolt point to the plate (multistrata plate in your case) are higher higher then the stock mount points used for the plate ???

also what is the cost of the multistrata givi mounting plate ??

I really dont know if you can use givi universal with hyperstrada arms. You need to try and see.

Ducati MS 1200 plate!!!!! not givi plate.
I paid £33.00 for Ducati MS 1200 mount plate (MN# 96700610A).

In my case support arms were 3-4 millimeter short, so I put washers.
I hope it helps

Can you post more pictures of that case on the bike? At different angles? The case looks kind of big on the bike. I am curious how a B33 or B47 would look on it.

I am going to do the same thing, but I am considering using the Altrider luggage rack with it or an SW Motech so that I can use a Pelican case.

I have an 18 inch laptop... It may be easier to just buy a smaller laptop..

V46 mount

I have a V46 mounted to my ST2 and am planning on mounting it on my soon to appear HS. So from what i understand I need to buy the HS mounting arms and the mounting plate for the MTS 1200 trunk. That's all there it to it, right?

I agree it is a bit big for the bike but B33 does not have enough capacity for me . I wish there was 38L or 40L option.

Here are some photos

You need screws and spacers; I installed with pannier kit so my list is:

1x Ducati Multistrada 1200 top case plate MN# 96700610A (mine came with mounting screws 6pcs.

4x Convex socket cap screw M4x16 Incase Multi plate comes without screws
2x Short spacer (when installing with side pannier kit)
2x Socket cap screw M8x40
2x Socket cap screw M8x45
1x RH top case linkage (support arm)
1x LH top case linkage (support arm)
2x M6x40 and some washers to fill the gap, I used 3 washers per arm. this is to connect the arms to the plate .

Please check instructions before you buy anything

I already have Trekker cases on my Super Tenere so I have been using one of them lately. 33L per case.

Hi,

I am thinking about going down the same route as you have. Can you give some feedback on how it works for you now its been on a while? Is it stable at high speed etc? Can the rack be easily removed if need be?

Also can you post some more pics with the box off to see how it looks with just the rack?

Thanks

R

There is in Givi webpage a Monokey adaptor for our Hyperstrada. Did it exist when you did this job?

Part number which I'm talking about is SRA7403
