Hello from Istanbul, Turkey

Hello All,

I am a proud owner of a 2006 BMW R1200GS but would like to switch to a lighter, more nimble bike. Two newly launched models, the BMW F800GT and the Ducati Hyperstrada seem to be my two options.

Looking to gather as much info as I can before I get the chance to sit on/ride the bikes; then I'll see which way the devil tempts me

Have you seen the <f800riders.org> website - it contains a lot of news and information on the BMW F800GT... The devil has tempted me with the Ducati!

Sir Lawrence has the most information on the new BMW, as he has rode one already. I have only sat on one at the bike show.

Why would you choose between a f800gt and a hyperstrada rather than between a f800GS and a hyperstrada?

Simply because the F800GS shifts too much to the enduro side of things (with the 19'' front wheel, minimum 85mm seat height etc); and I only do a few fire trails here and there. Sadly I use the bike a lot in the city; and a tall heavy bike in the crazy traffic of this city is a burden. The GT has less weight, more power, and a factory option 80mm seat height (I am 175cm - 5'9'').

Given the fact that the Hyperstrada is better than the GT in many of these aspects (apart from 1cm difference in seat height) ; I really tend towards the devil's red.

And plus, it's Italian; and I like nearly everything Italian

Thank you, Rai! What a burden I now have to carry! Crikey - I hope you are happy with the Strada when you see it/ sit on it/ buy it! (I also hope that I'm happy with it...! If not, back to the GT).
