High Beams and ABS

Hello all! :)

How do you turn the high beams on? The manual is not helping me. A few pictures would be great to help me.

Also, is there a way to turn off the ABS? This is my first bike with ABS and I do not really like it.

highbeam with the highbeam-switch

ABS you can choose ABS1, ABS2 or ABS off in each riding mode. read the manual and you know how this can be done.

even i do not unterstand why switching off ABS. i do not recognize it during normal riding and it definitly brakes better than i could do it on slippery surfaces, and i bet, also better than you.

I cannot find a high beam switch on my bike. I even had my boyfriend look and he is very mechanical, an engineer.

The only switch I can find on my bike that controls high beam, is a lever that enables you to flash someone, but they high beam does not stay on that way.

Think only the Motard SP can turn ABS/traction completely off.

Roadchick, do me a little road test. Find a safe place to fool around with no traffic. Get her up to 60, then crush the foot brake and squeeze the black out of the lever and tell me you don't like this ABS system. Without it, same test, you'd be watching your Strada spraying sparks as it slid down the street.
 
*side note* This same test will help knock the squeal out of your crappy stock pads for a limited time.

Get her up to 60, then crush the foot brake and squeeze the black out of the lever and tell me you don't like this ABS system. Without it, same test, you'd be watching your Strada spraying sparks as it slid down the street.

from going into the settings manual.. it would appear that you can turn off DTC (traction control) and ABS on the Strada (but really why would you?). The main difference between the Motard SP and our levels, is we have to turn the system off to allow the nose to come up or the brakes to lock.. where the SP has built in tolerance for wheel lift and allows the rear wheel to lock while still allowing the front to have ABS.

The Ducati Riding Modes mark a turning-point in motorbike engineering and allow a choice to be made, depending on the model, from preset modes to optimise the vehicle’s performance on the basis of the rider’s riding style and the environmental conditions.

RT(F)M - in riding mode menu you can choose for each riding mode "ABS1", "AB2" or "ABS off" , DTC also can be switched off and level of interaction can be set between 1 until 8, which means from nearly nothing to very sensitive.
existing riding modes are set with default values where each value can be changed for personal preferences.

The only difference in any of these settings between regular and SP are the names they are called.
Race/Sport/Wet = Sport/Touring/Urban. Same same.
 
ferdi, the menu guide, and probably 90% of the manual, is shared among the entire Hyper line.

Long ago, there was a thread in which I think we determined that the Strada couldn't turn ABS/DTC completely off (-). I've never attempted because I mostly commute with bags loaded.

Have you actually turned ABS/DTC to 0 (-)?

Not true. Mine will wheelie in "Touring" mode.

just curious about what you experienced with the ABS that you did not like? For example, I find DTC overly involved on loose dirt/gravel (even at setting 1), but ABS I find helpful even there. On dry road, I really don't notice ABS, but I would be glad to have it work in a panic stop situation, not to mention on a wet road.

It seems I was confusing what I was feeling in the braking as being related to the ABS. It turns out, I am just experiencing really good braking, and need to adjust my riding to accommodate.

i cannot remember the DTC, but i have seen that i can switch ABS off on mine.

Yep, mine will wheelie in touring and sport modes, as well.

I thought seeing the abs to 0 turned it off. I suppose that's not the case?

Wow! I was really off in my assessment!!! What I had been experiencing was the rotor being gummed up.....
