Homemade carbon fiber windscreen

This is my first attempt at making carbon fiber parts. It has some imperfections and some texture that I might address later but, all in all, I'm happy. Used 5 layers of 2x2 twill fabric, epoxy resin along with the vacuum forming method. Tried using only 2 layers, it held its shape just fine but once mounted I think it would have distorted at speed. It took a while to decide on a final shape but I feel that it flows nicely. I sprayed it with a few coats of matte/satin acrylic enamel to match the sheen of the bike. It's not fully mounted in pics. Just sitting on the pegs.

Impressive! What was the cost of materials?

Thank you. The resin and carbon fiber cloth was about $50. The remaining material is enough to make 2 more wind screens. I had the pump, bags, tubes and sealing tapes.

Thank you guys. I'm excited about making more and further understanding the tricks to make it quicker and easier.

50 BUX? SOLD!?! I'll take it, just tell me where to paypal the monies! LOL j/k. Nice work tho! I might be interested in one for the right price as well.

Thank you. LOL. But i won't be making anymore windscreens untill I get better at the whole carbon fibering process. There are some weave distortion in the tight areas. Once I figure it all out I might make a few to sell.

If you're interested, I've got a bunch of prepreg unidirectional in cold storage. I'd rather see it used than thrown out.

OH! WOW! I havnt tried prepreg but have read that it can be done without an autoclave. I would like to give it a try. Howmuch did you want for it, howmuch do you have?
