How is the Hyperstrada seat?

I have a Hypermotard SP which is an absolute blast in for aggressive riding. I do a bit of highway riding though, and the stock seat is very hard. It has a nice shape, but has very little cushion. How is the Hyperstrada seat for longer rides? I am getting sore after just 1 hour.

I am looking at Ducati's seat offerings. I'm not interested in a lower seat necessarily, just something softer.

I would take a ride to you're dealer and ask if they would take the seat off a Strada and put it on you're bike just to try. I know the Strada seat is wider, what I don't know is if there were any changes to the subframe or gromit's that hold the seat down. Post here you're results.
As for comfort I did an iron butt 1000 (1000 miles in 24hours) with no complaints.

Stock seat isn't great, pushes you into the tank. I used electric knife yesterday and removed quite a bit if material. Definitely better, more tweaking needed.

For me, the stock seat is fantastic. I have no complaints at all. As with most other things that involve ergonomics, I'm sure height and weight are big factors. I'm 6 feet exactly and 175 lbs. I've ridden my Hyperstrada for full days on several occasions and have never had any issue with soreness.

Hey guys, for reference I sat on the 'strada seat a bit to compare it. It's a lot softer than the 'motard. And a little lower. I think it would be a great upgrade for comfort, sacrificing a little maneuverability.

I concur, the SP's seat sits well just wish it was a bit softer. So far the best I've been able to do is a 3hr ride. After that I really needed to get off and let the circulation get moving again. I've been wondering the same about the touring seat, I can see that it is cut out more and sits lower, but that's not much help if the foam is just as hard as what's in the stock version.

I did a 300 mile ride on Sunday on my HS and can honestly say very comfortable, no soreness the next day.

Ironically, I'm looking for a Hypermotard seat for my 'strada so I can slide back a little and hang-off easier.

This subject has been beaten to death here and in other forums. The standard HYM seat is high in the center (I thought it was like straddling a fence rail); the 'regular' HYS seat is cut flatter and lower, and the 'low seat' (part of the 'sella bassa' option in the manuals) is lower still. All use a firm foam, but the 'low' seat is extra-hard.

Remedies vary from a piece of sheepskin to a custom seat job from makers such as Corbin, Sergeant, and Mayer. Corbin seats tend to be very hard, but the Mayer I sampled last weekend (on an 800GS) was very comfy.

Bottom line is that the seats are similar in hardness if not shape, it's our backs and butts that vary. Mine have no problem with the stock HYS seat.

 When you refer to the 'regular HYS' seat, that means the factory Hypermotard SP seat?

I have not sat on an SP, but it looks just like the regular HYM seat, just a different color. I doubt that the foam is any different.

By HYS I mean the hyperstrada.
