How many Hypers have been built?

I feel like 5,000 was a close number in 2013. Not common, even in Italy. I used to see the 1st gen's around Virginia Beach quite a bit.

Back when VW/Audi/Lambo were informally shopping Ducati, there was a PE analyst report floating around speculating about production numbers and financial results. My memory, not what it should be now or was then, recalls actual production numbers for nearly all models to be lower than anticipated, with margins higher than estimated. The story was, as a result, Ducati had plenty of room to grow output and be more like Porsche than like Ferrari. Since no PE firms stepped up to bite on this story, despite plentiful war chests, I suspect the story was crap. Personally, I see ten Panigales for every HM/HS here in west Los Angeles, and Monsters fall somewhere in-between. It's pretty clear Ducati was disappointed in HS sales, given the subsequent development of the baby Multistrada.
