Hyper as a Dual-Sport

I just finished a 1,000 mile trip with about 30% done on dirt roads. The bike was great, especially with the "Urban" mode set to DTC and ABS off and throttle to LOW. My tire selection of D616 in the rear and MT60R in the front worked out beautifully. The only thing I would change is the suspension. Especially the front end.

You can read all about the trip and see lots of hyper photos here:

Let's do our own! I want to try Ophir and Medano passes for sure! I want to get a skid plate made before we go though. Did you ever find any aftermarket ones that would fit?

What are you talking about? The front cylinder header pipe?

I already installed the one that covers the front cylinder, I was thinking of one that covers the entire bottom of the engine all the way back to the stand.

I did a 900km run last weekend and about 200km was on dirt.

I have the standard tyres and set the bike to Urban Mode with ABS 1 and DTC 2 on the dirt to limit wheel spin. Too much DTC causes it to fire all the time which seemed pointless.

Apart from the tyres squirming around on the gravel a bit, it went very well. Suspension was great on the dirt, and the best thing was being able to ride like a maniac on the windy tar parts, and then head off down dirt roads with impunity.

The only place I don't think it works well is the city because of the surging at low revs, but this is more manageable in urban mode.

Finally... a ride report where the hyper did off road.
I'd been looking for this kind of report every where on the net and also on youtube.

Love the ride report psimon55. Looking forward to the video.

Nice ride report.

I had Hepco & Becker sump guard on the Super Tenere, but they do not have anything for the HS.

I did find this: Ducati Hyperstrada 821 Sump Guard | Buy Ducati Motorcycle Parts

Yup, I saw that and think thats just to cover up the front header or maybe the front cylinder because it looks nothing like any sump guard I can imagine.

Edit:

Actually I just printed off that picture and took it outside to look. It's the front cylinder guard, looks to attach to the what I assume it the spark plug cap retainer screw at the top and then to the 2 bosses on the bottom front of the cylinder with an arm that wraps around the header tube. Looks like it could be a useful addition but IS NOT a sump guard.

Pro Italia carries EVOTech stuff but not this particular product at the moment.
