Just had a shocking telephone conversation with my local dealer ! I am actively looking for a HYperstrada 939, been waiting for his new demo to come in so I can test ride it, and he tells me that he went to Ducati 2017 launch meeting on Monday and the Hyperstrada has been dropped from the range from next year ! To be replaced with a Multistrada 950, which has the 939 engine in ! I am gutted ! Take a look at the Multi 950, it looks ***** !

Too bad they are dropping the Hyper line but I will have to admit that my Multi is twice the bike that the Hyper is. BUT it is a lot heavier. Hopefully the 950 will be a bit lighter and fall back into the Hyper style. They are quite different to ride but if I could have only one it would have to be the Multi. SAD to see the Hyper go.

Yeah but just look at the 950 multi on the website.....it`s fugly.

I am still gonna bag myself a nearly new 2016 Hyperstrada and enjoy it !

The HS isn't exactly good looking either... It's a pretty ugly version of the HM which isn't bad on the eyes.

I actually love the look of both motard and strada. Never been a fan of the multi in the looks dept, although it`s a very capable bike. But this `baby` version looks pathetic ! It looks like summat my mum would buy just after passing her test !

I must be missing something, they look practically identical. Swingarm / exhaust is basically the only difference.

The "baby" multi is about 50lbs heavier than the hyper, In fact it weighs about the same as the regular multi.

I'm also pretty sure they will have softened it up and you sit in the middle of a lot of plastic, as opposed to the hyper ergos and yes is, to my eyes, ugly.

I am buzzin ! I have a deal on the table for a 939 Hyperstrada, reg May 2016, ex demo bike, just run I with 1300 miles on the clock ! Straight swap for my 2014 Diavel !

Booked a test ride on the new Multi 939, whilst mine is in for the recall campaign,
Not sure if I'd want to trade the hyper in for one, will see after the test ride in a few weeks.
The 1200 multi is too tall and heavy for me, I'm hoping the baby one is more manageable.

As far as I can tell, it's the same size as the big multi, and only about 10lbs lighter.Be interested in hearing your riding impressions.

Update.
Never took the bike out. Sat on it in the showroom and it's too big and heavy for me. Just isn't for me.
On the plus side got more TSB's than was booked in for. They did the software update. The dash suppressor. Checked some relay connections. Checked throttle and also checked clutch cable and lubricated as TSB.

Well here I am , 10 months later , still loving the 939 Strada. As nimble as a nimble thing from the planet nimble. More than enough power for general road use. Fab brakes, very comfy. Overall....very very pleased. !!

Yeah I don't quite get the 950 Multistrada its almost the same weight as the 1200 with way less power. Its like if they put out a 600 hyperstrada... why would you buy that?
smoke and a pancake.... I mean a pipe and a tune and the Hyperstrada is probably the best motorcycle ever made....

Test-rode the Mini-Multi, and found it a totally different bike to the 1200. It's more like the Enduro version of the big bike, and I'd choose it if contemplating lots of unsealed roads and soft-core offroad use. It's also more refined and comfy than my HS 939, but not as much fun to ride as it doesn't inspire the inner hoon as much. But this is a worthy addition to the Ducati range, especially when fitted with the optional wire-spoked wheels like the test bike, which improve its looks considerably.
