I'm thinking about getting a skid plate.
Anybody try the one from SW-Motech?

Looks pretty sweet on the motard...

Note to the forum. I tried to mount a SW-Mototech skidplate to my 2015 HS and the the rear bracket was too short. Maybe designed for the Motard without a centerstand??

I even had Portland Oregon Motocorsa attempt the install and they could not get it to fit. They said they had another HS that they attempted and could not install.

Bummer as it is a sweet skidplate.

Folks an update. I have taken several gnarly rides now on forest and single track roads with the stock skid plate(plastic) with no issues. Over small logs, etc. One caution that many of the bolts on the bike should have loctite added if you are serious about taking the HS offroad. Also remove the rear stock tire hugger/fender before you go hard offroad. It is 3 bolts and easy. Have fun. It is an amazingly capable bike in many situations with a bit of care.

I have that motech plate with my motard. Works great, keeping the engine rock chip free. It resonates real bad though - I had to put on some dynamat.

Good to hear the stock plastic one works well. It's real slick.

Thanks for this, btw. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what the noise was. I thought maybe my water pump was failing. I recently installed a Motorrad metal skid plate but never made the association between that and the damn noise. A little Dynamat took care of the noise.

I have the evotech skid plate and have absolutely zero complaints. It doesn't appear to cover as much as the SW-motech though.
