Just had my throttle replaced after suffering a few limp mode issues and I have to say, what a difference.
Power delivery is smoothed out and so far, no limp mode. No power surging. All in all, a lot mote managable than it was.
Good service by Ian Murray bikes, Bilston, Scotland and Ducati.
I am not the original owner and thw bike is over 2 years old but they still replaced it free of charge under warranty.
Jolly decent of them I have to say.
Pity its getting put away for the winter before the salt, ice and snow appears- roll on next year.
To anyone suffering same issues with 2013 model - go to your dealer and hopefully you shall get same service and replacement unit under warranty. you will be glad you did.

Can I ask if you were getting surging issues with the bike specifically as well ?
Mine has just started to show signs of surging quite badly on steady throttle , pretty much whatever RPM you are on.
I haven't experienced any limp mode issues (touch wood ) but just wondering if issues I am starting to have are throttle linked maybe.

Mine too! Definitely has become more noticeable in the last couple of months. What year is yours willmac? How may miles do you have?

Honesty if your surging has gotten worse recently, I'd look to some other cause like throttle body sync as the cause.

I think people (or at least myself) that have had surging that got better with the throttle recall had the problem from day one.

It is possible that the 821 is sensitive to TB sync, so even if it is off slightly (which it will do with miles and time) it could cause an exasperated surge.

Sounds good .

I'd also check chain tension - It's pretty sensitive to proper tension and this can seem like surging.

Also gas quality - really drain the tank and refill with good gas. If you're just filling a gallon or so, most of what you're putting in is whatever the last person used.

Mine has 5,500 kms ( 3417 miles ) on at moment Jokeshopbeard.
I thought mine was actually a 2014 model, however a closer look appears to show it is in fact a 2013 I suspect. I checked frame numbers etc and saw no data reflecting MY which I found strange, but I note on the ECU under seat that it states 2013 MY ?

I have checked / adjusted chain tension, which is on the money. I have had air filter changed. I have drained fuel and refilled. I have tried fuel additive also. Had injection system cleaned. Surging is still there. However I will say that after the above work that at idle now she runs a lot smoother than she has done for last few hundred kilometers.

Problem is where I am in Vietnam , the service available is a bit limited.

One other thought - have you had all the latest ecu updates? Seeing it is a 2013, there was an update addressing surging, early on.

I do need to have this checked. Unfortunately my local dealer is no longer a Ducati agent as such. They still have to honor my servicing etc, however with no parts in stock on the shelves and lack of interest in anything Ducati now its moved onto Kawasaki and KTM, it's a PITA to get even a software check like this done.
However I will push them on it and insist on a software check.
