Lower Model Handling & Centerstand?

Hi Folks,

I'm wondering if the shortened suspension of the 2015 Hyperstrada (130 mm vs the 2013-2014 150 mm) is a problem for aggressive cornering. I have heard that on the standard people are already grinding their centerstands during spirited riding.

The loss of 20 mm ground clearance and the changed suspension bits concerns me -- it is significant in the real world? I had to pull the centerstand on my KLR650 as it was touching down hard in corners.

I could likely find a new 2014 to retain the travel. And, of course, I want to buy the Hyperstrada really really soon. No testrides available on the 2014 in my area and in any case, the allowed test of the 2015 was too tame to test this.

You've got to really, really go for it to actually touch down. With properly set rear preload it's never an issue.

Depends.
I am 125 kg in full gear (plus some luggage weight on travel). Even with preload almost fully set on 33 clicks my centerstand and gear lever scratch occasionally on twisty roads (and on track).
Mine is the 2014 standard strada (and I will remove the centerstand soon).

Centerstand hasn't touched down on me, but the brake and shifter will. Mine is a 2015. Cornering pretty hard in this picture.

on the right side i left half of the shifter on the track and centerstand has some scrub marks, as footpeg also.

got much better when i changed to hangoff on the track.

on the street it's no problem at all with my setup.
