I'm looking for this riding experience:

But with more power and the capability to go on multi-day rides.

Rides with a focus on those tiny backroads where there aren't people texting, speed traps, traffic, etc...

Roads like this:

Or even like this:

Well, I think I found the perfect motorcycle for my intended riding experience, the Ducati Hyperstrada.

Here is how I explained my ride today to my riding friends:

Test rode the Hyperstrada. There’s something about it extremely attractive. Intoxicating really. Maybe I have the Ducati virus now.

This isn’t a touring bike because you are right out in the elements. The windscreen keeps the air off the chest, but leaves the helmet in clean air.

A hybrid bike, being dirtbike in scale and feel, but a high performance bike too.

As opposed to riding a motorcycle, I was the motorcycle, if that makes any sense.

To even see the gauges or windscreen I had to move my head and look down towards the seat. Literally nothing in front of me.

Maybe my experience makes sense to you.

Yup. Perfect sense. Although I've equally been at one with my CBR1000RR at times. Special times when you and the bike can be as one in that way.

Oh, those beautiful, still black bags...

Njoy. Just remember not to leave the luggage in the sun.

Indeed. I have that same feeling on mine...once you get used to it, and you are using no conscious thought toward controlling the bike, it's like 'wishing' yourself down the road. Look that way, go that way. Like being Superman!

And Gat, that right hand bag looks pretty faded to me...yours must be awful.

A really nice write up.

I've found that if you keep the throttle twisted it will get you wherever you're going regardless of the distance. That's touring to me.

I also had a 690SMC. The Hyperstrada is a 10X better streetbike with all of the fun factor. It is a LOT heavier, but honestly, I don't feel it because it is lower. It's is a LOT more powerful, comfortable, has more wind protection, has bags, and even leans into turns more easily. Not really missing the 690 anymore.
