Well ,as from 8am this morning me and my mates are off on a round trip of scotland on some of the best roads that the uk has to offer .
We did this last year and it was spot on ,we did 1800 miles last time in 6 days. We only have 5 days this time ,so we are missing out John o groats as the roads around there are crap compared to the rest of the route.
Even the weather forecast is looking good ,which is a miracle for scotland at any time of year.

Its on my list of places to go explore, i'd be interested to see the routes you have planned. Hope the weather holds, my trip to wales a few weeks back was plagued by rain despite a decent forecast.

Sounds great. I'm jealous.
Making me feel homesick.

Look forward to photo's and report.
Hope you have had your "midgie" inoculations :D

a few pictures from Scotland.
The first one was at Inverary ,our first overnight stop.
We stayed in hostels which are very cheap at around £18.00 per person per night. We would ride until about 3pm then look at the map to figure where we would be at around 6pm ,then googled hostels in that area to check availability.
The only one that we had a bit of trouble getting in somewhere was in Tongue which is right at the very top of Scotland ,where there was no phone signal but we just went to the bunkhouse and knocked on the door.

We got a map of Scotland , rode up to Glasgow across the Erskine bridge then turned left onto the A82 ,then turned off it onto the road that runs alongside the Fastlane nuclear submarine base. This is a great little road that has loads of twists and jumps that eventually rejoins the A82.
From there we pretty much just followed the coast road all the way around to inveraray, then along the coast to Oban .
From there we went through Fort william, up to Applecross and stopped overnight at Gairloch.
Then up through Ullapool to Durness and Tongue.

We headed south from there through Lairg and down to Inverness for some new tyres due to my mates back tyre by now having been worn down to the canvas.
Now legal again ,we headed through Grantown on spey ,Braemar ,Pitlochry,Killin and stopped at Callender overnight.
From here it gets a bit boring as you are back to the busier roads of the major cities .

Speaking to the people we met in Scotland ,they said it was the worst summer they have had for 14 years and we were very lucky to get the great weather.
