Anyone know if Ducati is planning to release better side bags for the hyperstrada? The stock ones (zippered and non waterproof) do not feel like they will survive frequent use. I would hope to see a hard, waterproof set that fits the stock rack.

They come with a waterproof inner bag that are pretty nice, I think. the bags are hell to get of the bike after you ride with them a while.

The bags work and are a good balance style, lightness and practicality. Have your dealer lightly file the locking pawls on the attachment point, add some graphite, and they will pop off easily again. I agree that the seams around zipper will be first to give, but my dealer says as long as happens within 2 years, I'll get a new set.

The bags are more water tight than they look. I had a 20 minute stop & go ride through tropical storm Andrea the other day and the bags were dry to touch inside - I was soaked through my "weatherproof" riding suit.

I think the bags get a hasty bad rap because they feel a bit flimsy when you mostly see hard bags on touring bikes. After 1500 miles of constant use of bags, I argue they work.

I had talked to Kevin at Bellevue Ducati in Seattle and he indicated they were planning on working up an install for the Givi Treckkers for the Hyperstrada like they did on the air cooled Hypermotard.

Send them an email and demonstrate interest!

That would be nice, I'm keeping my Trekkers off the Super Ten. They have a bunch of stickers on them, LOL.

A little off topic but the bags are 4" wider than the bars which makes lane splitting a tad tricky, anyone had any issues?

Splitting with side bags

I do not split with side bags unless traffic is really bad. I am used to my V-Strom without side bags and Givi topcase. I have riddent it for six years before I bought the Strada. I bought the Ducati topcase and like to commute with it. The side bags stick out more than I 'feel' and I have bumped a few things thinking I was ok with them on. The top case holds helmet and my daily work. I would need some more time to get a better 'feel' for the side bags width.
