Panniers for Hyperstrada 821

I recently purchased a 2015 Hyperstrada that had a destroyed right pannier. I would like to find a nice used one. A new factory one is quite expensive! The other option is to go aftermarket. It would be nice to use the factory brackets, but I I’m sure they would be useless with aftermarket units.
If anyone has a pannier for sale or has experience with the aftermarket products, please let me know.

Troy, welcome to the forum. Lot's of pannier discussions so look those up. All the aftermarket options involve big, ugly support frames. Givi is probably most affordable but I would go Mosko Moto. The stock bags are not very durable but work well as a tidy OEM system that holds a full face helmet. You can read my thread about the SuperSport bags I modded to fit the OEM brackets. Very happy with results and bags are much better quality.

Hi Troy

Welcome!
I have a right side pannier complete and never crashed from my '14 Hyperstrada. Original owner.
I would say it's in good to excellent condition with only very minor wear.
Although parked indoors every day I've owned it, the only thing is it has some color fade and the black turned a bit purplish.
I think it was parked in the sun at the dealership.
I believe some people have dyed them on the forum but never have.

Oddly it was just the righthand side which was faded. You can see the difference in my Pikes peak picture.
The pictures off the bike are from today.
Message me if you're interested and what your offer is and I could have it shipped out later today.

Thanks for your input. I was not able find your thread, but I’m not very tech-savy. I don’t plan to use panniers more than a few times a year, but I know they would be great to have for those trips. I usually just use a tank bag for anything shorter than a couple days. Do you have any recommendations on a bag that works well? I have always relied on magnetic bags, but obviously I will need to arrange straps for the Hyperstrada.

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely consider it. I’m surprised they faded so easily. There is a left side bag on EBay for $200, but I have that side and it looks almost new.

Sounds like the OEM's are the best choice for you then. They are pretty durable but, as you can see from above post, they fade pretty fast (first purple, then grey). My SS luggage swap was pretty involved but I rarely take mine off.

Not much help on tank bags. Personally don't like them. I would search on here for the magnetic one since it's the easiest for fuel ups...which you will do a lot of.

I didn't realize the fancy plasti-magnets had been released to the public yet :p the only easy on and off one I am aware of uses a latch that requires a part to be added around the gas cap so there is a lip to snap the bag into. I gather it works well and I'll be honest in saying that I avoided it because I didn't like the look of the latching bit when the bag wasn't in use. As my mom always said, if you gonna be stupid, you better be tough. I remind myself of this when I either try to fit everything I need into my tail bag or end up wearing a backpack...

That's the one. I thought it was a magnetic coupling.

I suppose it could be? I always assumed it was a twist lock or something but I never actually looked into how it work so I could easily be wrong.

Is that just the bag or does it include mounts as my top mount is cracked and haven’t been able to find replacement mount. Also do you know if the lock is specific for each hyperstrada key? Thanks Ed

Tumblers are keyed to ignition key. Swag bag that came with it when purchased had a spare tumbler for the top case. Not too hard to swap if you search for the thread on here.
