Well I took the plunge and payed for a new Hyperstrada last Saturday. So when I was filling out the paper work, the Dealer A said that I couldn't take the bike that day because it hadn't been removed from the shipping crate and it required a PDI..

So, Dealer A searched their warehouse trying to find the crate. It took them 3 days to locate it, and when they removed the cover, they quickly found out that my Hyperstrada wasn't in it.. there was a Multistrada in it's place..

Dealer A, then verified who's stock has the VIN for Multi was supposed to be in.. then proceeded to contact Dealer B to get them to verify their stock...

Dealer B, finds the Multi's crate, opens the top and doesn't find my bike either... they have stock from Dealer C in their warehouse..

OMFG.. what the hell is going on.

Now Dealer A is saying we have some options..

Option 1: wait for the shipping blunder to settle out (undetermined amount of time)

Option 2: get a different floor bike model, which has heated grips (which they want to charge for), 0 km... but only 1 yr worth of warranty remaining, and charge me to get a 2nd yr warranty coverage WHAT !!!

Option 3: get a different floor model, which again has heated grips, and tank pad (which they want money for), 500 km's (demo).. and a 2 yr warranty..

Dealer A is 239 km away (6 hours round trip), same province

Dealer B is 459 km away (14 hours round trip), same province.

Dealer C is 450 km away (13 hours round trip), different province

Dealer D is 1,203 km away (25 hour round trip), different province

Dealer E is 1,266 km away....

And it gets worse.

The fact that they wouldn't give you standard warranty for floor model is insulting. And charging for heated grips after a ****-up like yours is very poor form. If you had an initial gut reaction, I'd go with it.

I told them they have until Friday to figure out where my bike is. After that I'll factor in the options and see what route to take.

To tell you the truth, I'm really not too concerned as there's still over a foot of snow on the ground with -10c temps during the day (-30c at night), so it's not likely that if I did have the bike in the garage I'd take out. I'm just blown away at the swiss cheese shipping policies of this company that can have at this point 3 dealerships with the wrong bikes in their warehouse.

Just take the bike in the crate as it must be yours right?? :)
But all in all, you should never pay any extra for there fault.
And if they can´t locate your bike in that week of time, ask what they will do.

They have comitted and sold somthing they dont have so they will have to deliver even IF it will cost them hard cash on the deal.
You as customer should not have to pay anything for there mistake.

Yes, I bought my bike at Argyll. Radek was Johnny-On-The-Spot for answering any questions I had.. Sometimes at rediculous hours of the night as I googled things on the bike.

Argyll have been excellent to deal with. The parts department gets everything within a week, just be prepared to pay in full before they place the order. Service department today was excellent.. They "helped" unload the bike, and offered to help load it afterwords.. They completed the 1st service and activated the heated grip right away. Actually the tech delayed going on lunch to get the bike in/out as quick as possible because I was from out of town.

Just chat them up, most dealership workers get frustrated because people complain, which in tern comes back to you 150%.. So go in there with a smile on your face, don't talk down, and they'll bend over backwards to get you back on the road asap.
