Race seat vs SP seat

Different cover material and shape. Think it has suede around the thigh areas. I would imagine it has less padding, as you shouldn't be planted in one area too long when racing.

I must be the only one who loves the stock seat. 700 miles in one day, and I ended the day just as well as I started it. For reference, I'm 5' 10", 140lbs.

+1; have done back-to-back 450 mile days with no discomfort. I'm also tall and skinny.

I bought a used Hypermotard seat to modify, hate it as-is. What I really want is more padding for the wifey. The back is too thin; she hits the rack too easily.

To me the stock seat just feels a little weird. I sat on the hypermotard at the dealer and like the more aggressive feel on the seat. That being said, that was like 2 minutes. After 2 hrs i have no idea

I like my SP seat as far as comfort and being able to move on it, but it's just so damn tall. I feel like I'm on the bike, not in it. An inch lower would make a world of difference, but then you give up other things.

Coming from a dirt bike background, the SP seat feels more natural for me. The stock seat where my butt feels planted in a bucket just doesnt feel right. Comfy but weird.

Since installing the RapidBike controller and wire bundle, my seat has to really be muscled to lock in correctly. It's kinda buckling aft from all the gear and the position has changed slightly, leaving about a 15-20mm gap at the tank seam. Honestly, my seat always had issues with the forward guides not staying on the bobbins very well. Even after a lot of work on that area it still shifts a little when I ride hard. I think the seating position has changed just enough that I've got too much forward slope.

Oh, I had to ditch that worthless tool kit to get the seat on.

I've got both seats and the race seat is a lot better. The standard seat feels like its pushing my nuts into the tank.

dammit, do you think fitting a li-ion battery would benefit, being smaller would the rapidbike control unit fit next to the battery?? I'm ready to pull the trigger on one of these units.

I have both and really like the race seat. It is flatter and you can move around on it. It sits a bit higher but my old 5'10" body works fine.

Thanks for all the input everyone. Looks like race seat will be on the shopping list come spring time
