Rear indicator housing fell off... take note!

Went for a long ride today and heard something tinkering around behind me at 100km/h. My riding buddies beeped me and when I stopped I got a nasty little surprise!

My Indicator/number plate holder was dangling on the rear wheel! There are 2 bolts that hold all this in place under the rear section and they had come loose and fell out. I went straight to the dealer since it was on the way home and reported the issue. They said to call back tomorrow to find out if this will be covered under warranty.

Check these bolts and make sure they are tight and maybe even loctite them??

Will do. On the 2010 Multi12 they were too slack, bolt did not tighten the part, we had to put a washer under the bolt so it wouldn't bottom out before tightening.

Will go check mine now. Thanks.

Did you ask if this was part of the dealer assembly parts? I would almost bet the number plate bracket is something the dealer assembles after they take it out of the shipping crate. Did it break or some bolts fall out?

Knowing my luck, mine would have fallen off and I'd find out when the cop pulls me over to give me a ticket for faulty equipment...

Your dealer is a crackload of crap. Of course that's covered under warranty. That dealer should have profusely apologized and immediately had a tech go over it from stem to stern to make sure everything is tight and right. WTF? Unless your bike had obvious signs of you messing with it or taking it apart in any way, the assumption is always that it is in the condition you received it in. That dealer's PDI/setup guy needs a serious kick in the tail and/or a good firing.

LOL

That's not ideal!

Should be covered by warranty though (assuming you weren't tinkering with the area).

Dealer has taken bike in and said they will fix it under warranty. Only problem is they don't have the part. Being ordered from Italy and will take 3 weeks..... I'll be riding around on my push bike in the mean time :)
