So, I'm buying a 2015 Hyperstrada 821, with 2800 km on the clock. Still in warranty until September of 2019. It was a test drive bike for 1000 km, then sold. Rode until 2800 km and has been sitting since mid 2018 on a store being sold. It's been taken for a small ride weekly just to keep battery charge. Guy was asking a big price, so it wouldn't sell. I'm getting it for what I think is a good price. R$35.000,00 (Brazilian money). Now keep in mind everything in Brazil is roughly double of US and EU. Any comments on price are also welcome.
Took it for an inspection and oil change at local Ducati. Headlamp and license plate bulbs were out. Exchanged them, headlamp blew again. So the Ducati guy inspected the electrical system and found that the rectifier, that was supposed to be putting out 13v was actually putting out 16v. He says it's a common issue. Factory is paying for the new part and service.
So far so good. But now I'm suspecting there could be something else to this bike. Asked the dealer to test the battery, it passed health tests with flying colors.
Usually car ECU's will work fine with anything between 8-32v. So I'm not too worried about them, unless bike ecu's are more sensitive, are they?
But could any other systems be damaged by this?
Overall, should I just give up on this bike and try to find another? Stradas are not very common in Brazil, this one was kind of a good find.
First post here. Did search, found just a guys asking about mosfet rectifier swap, being that the stock is already mosfet.
Any input or comments will be most welcome!
