Red oil light - Engine Break-in

Hi Guys,

Just registered on the forum. I didn't expect to find a forum on the hyperstrada.

I bought a couple of day ago a brand new Hyperstrada 2016 939.
What a bike... Had a Z1000 and i can tell i wanna ride it all the time. I rided in last 3 years around 2000km a year and with this beast i might do 1000km in first week or so.

So i have only one issue.

I am at the break-in portion. I tried the bike from the dealer to my house so around 60km. 120km on highway all the road. No problem.

First small ride, i ride it a bit harder over the rpm recommendation ( i didnt read the owner manual yet) so i see after push it a bit the oil light appear and don't go away. So i stop somewhere secure's. Stop the engine, look all around if oil leaking i see nothing. I start engine, everything is fine (no more oil light). So i go back on the road, im more careful but still i believe that might just be an error, i ride over the max rev and it appear again. Since then i read the owner manual, should no exceed 5000-6000 rpm. Allright i did wrong, i think a got around 7000rpm. Now im really carefull. I ride smoothly for the break in and follow all the recommendations. No oil light since then but one time, i was riding around 110-120 km/h for around 10 mins and it appeared. But i was real smooth going at that speed. I did over 300 km in that period.

I spoke with my gf father who is really good with all engine stuff and he told me that might not be a problem but since you are at the engine break-in period, this might be only an advice to calm down. At the first maintenance they might update the firmware in the bike and the warning will be removed.

I think that might be possible but well lets ask if you guys know about it.

Like i said, i road over 250km smoothly without any issue but the part of 110-120 km/h.

Oil level is good.

Some will say go to dealer, but my dealer customer service is all but good.
Called, they told me bring the bike we will take a look when we have time. They are an hour away of traffic.

Also i will have to go there for the 1000 km maintenance so if i ride smooth to the 1000km i will be able to do both in one time.

At 1000km all they do is reset the service reminder. I am not aware of a red oil light warning feature.

However, I have heard of oil pressure sensor failure on this bike. Another person had the same issue as you. Intermittent oil light even though the bike ran fine and had oil. Keep an eye on it and bring it back if the sensor is still acting up.

Thanks for the reply,

i guess they will change the sensor ? I believe i can wait till my 1000 km service then.
