Riding in the rain water in air box

Im just getting around to swapping out my OEM air filter with a BMC and noticed signs of water inside the air box, also road grime and small stones on top of the airbox. I try to ride year round in an area that has 4 seasons. Recently i was riding in wet snow. Upon closer looking I noticed a strait path for rain/stones/grime from the front tire through the frame opening and over the rectifier. Are any of you doing anything special for riding in the rain/snow? Seems like a small cover for this area of the frame would prevent this. Are any of you doing anything for wet riding?

Yeah I noticed my air filter full of very small rocks. So I bought a sheet of very coarse UNI filter material and taped it onto the top of the airbox covering the opening. It kept the rocks out but after 7000 miles it collected enough dirt to create enough resistance to get sucked into the air filter lol. I bet you could do something similar and oil it to keep the water off but you gotta check it every so often. Think of it as a pre filter.

I'm thinking a small piece of plastic/carbon fiber covering that opening in the frame will do some good. I plan on trying something. It is directly in line with the debris coming from the tire and almost completely unobstructed.
