What do you guys think of these. Pricey at $307, but I'm concerned about the peg type frame sliders being something that'd tweak the trellis frame if the bike hits the pavement.

A few online sites have this kind, but haven't been able to find anyone's user experience with 'em.

Ducati Rizoma Engine Guards for Hypermotard 821 (2013+)

They make a water pump guard too.

They're my favorite. My SpeedyMoto spindles look like they belong to a toddler's shape puzzle toy. Honestly, probably the strongest with 2 mounting points, vice standard tubes that mount to engine rod. And they double as foot rests- I prop my feet up on mine on longer rides to stretch a bit.

Alas, for $300, they fall into the "want", not "need" column.

I replaced my SpeedyMoto with the Rizoma. Yes they are spendy but look much better and like you said it's less likely to damage the frame should you have a low speed spill. The fit nice and are well made. One of these days I need to get around to selling the SpeedyMoto's.

Ok, glad to have some good feedback. I'd rather blow the 300 now than have a bunch of stuff to repair later.

Would I still need a water pump guard? Thinking of getting the Rizoma water pump guard too.

Do folks on this forum have a preferred vendor for this kind of stuff - here in the USA?
